Imagine this in Britain. Party leaders sitting down together in a TV studio straight after an election to discuss who might govern with who. Plot spoiler - the answer is it’s still not clear. It should be by the morning. So join us on @BBCr4today when all will be clearer

My take on what we know so far * Clear CDU win but Merz will be disappointed as below 30% & he’s likely tho not certain to lead a 3 party coalition * The problem with that is the parties will fight * The CDU are not natural bed fellows with the Greens * The Liberals brought down the last coalition with the SPD * Could be disagreements on debt brake, energy, migration crackdown & defence spending * The far right AfD will be delighted. They came a clear 2nd with almost 20%. They’ve replaced the SPD in large parts of Germany. Will relish being opposition to “failing old parties” & believe could win the next election * Final result still unclear as it is not yet certain that FDP (Liberals) or left wing BSW will clear 5% threshold to get into the next parliament * Tune in to @BBCr4today for the latest

@BBCr4today Did Germany vote for more Germans to be stabbed and run over by foreigners? 🤦🏻

@BBCr4today That isn't true, he is telling the EU to pay their way, which shouldn't be controversial at all. You frame it very dishonestly, but nothing new from BBC and it's employees.

@BBCr4today Nothing will change apart from window dressing. The policy of illegal mass immigration, catastrophic energy policy, and economic decline will continue as before. It doesn’t matter who’s chancellor. Even if he wanted to (and I doubt it) Merz can’t change a thing. #firewall
