Could they go down the Moy road? Or up the corcrain road? Or the drumgoose road? 30 years and they still want to antagonise the resident catholics population there…we’re all the murders not enough for you to say let’s leave this in the past and let them live in peace?

It all sounds and looks Vicar of Dibley. What you fail to mention is that the "parade" is actually a hate march from the anti catholic orange order. Its designed is to antagonise and demonstrate fail to mention the many people murdered by OO sympathisers.

Nobody is stopping you from attending your church grifter and nobody is attempting to force a republican march through a peaceful, law-abiding loyalist community this morning.

You forgot to mention that it is a nationalist area, and that the reason the OO won’t walk another road to take them to the same place, is because all the OO really want to do is antagonise. Nothing more, nothing less!

“your opinion” which is just one. From the people of Garvaghy Road it is about assertion of dominance! A reminder of the bleak dark days of persecution that the Catholic community suffered! This is a sad episode, an attempt by declining unionists parties to stir division& hate

Nicely glossing over the OO’s long history of supremacism and its deeply rooted ideology of Catholic exclusion and subordination

Your sanitising history the boys that died when they was burned in an arson attack. Just stop you’ve had 30 years of not forcing a parade through a catholic area. Just stop already .

David can you answer this question for me ? Why doesn’t the Orange Order and political unionism tell the truth about OO parades through Catholic / Nationalist areas? Everybody knows that this was not about walking back from church. Other routes are available. Pushing for this parade to take place has been done purely to assert Unionism’s perceived dominance over the Catholic community. Any truly good Christian man would not want to antagonise their neighbour. It’s biblical but they ignore the parts of the Bible that don’t concur with their supremacist mindset. And the latest iteration of this march is to deflect from the sexual deviance of the former DUP leader Jeffrey Donaldson (who coincidentally appeared in court yesterday) and the projected detrimental effect this will have of the DUP’s future electoral performance. If you look at the official history of the Orange Order they actually state the core purpose of Orange parades and their insistence on walking through areas where they’re not welcome. It exposes their psyche? The late Orange Order historian, Rev. John Brown, outlined specific historical and strategic reasons for why the organization insists on marching through areas where they are not welcome. Writing extensively in the 1960s about the nature of Orange parading, Brown explained that the marches served as a purposeful demonstration of territorial dominance, strength, and socio-political cohesion within the Protestant community: Asserting Ownership of the Public Highway: He maintained that parading through these areas was a physical assertion of the "Queen's highway," reinforcing the belief that members have a fundamental civil liberty and legal entitlement to walk any public route, regardless of local population shifts. Intimidation and Deterrence: Brown explicitly noted that early Orange marches—patterned after military formations with flags, drums, and historical weaponry—were explicitly designed "not only to intimidate potential rebels, but also to excite and attract well-disposed onlookers." Community Cohesion (The "Cement" of Unionism): He argued that the act of marching acts as a unifying force. Because the Orange Order binds together Protestants across differing political parties and social classes, the public ritual of the parade is the "cement" that holds these disparate elements together. Critics and historians often point to Brown’s 1960s accounts as clear evidence that the traditional insistence on pushing parades through nationalist or Catholic neighbourhoods was historically never just a benign religious celebration, but an intentional tool to project political and social dominance.

Check your calendar it’s not July 4th. This today is just to antagonise the population that pay for the maintenance of the road they live on. We have peace in NI like you would never have imagined. But there’s wankers on both sides that want to return to violence and killings.
