Thirty-seven years ago, the Crimson Tide turned a disastrous start in Jackson, Miss., into a 62-27 victory and one of the most remarkable comebacks in Alabama Football history on Oct. 7, 1989. The Ole Miss Rebels had beaten Alabama 22-12 in Tuscaloosa the previous season, and the opening minutes at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium suggested another frustrating afternoon for Bill Curry’s team. A blocked punt and an interception helped Ole Miss build a 21-0 lead with 8:18 still remaining in the first quarter. Alabama entered the game unbeaten at 3-0, but now faced a three-touchdown deficit before the game was seven minutes old. Then Alabama unleashed an avalanche. The Crimson Tide scored 48 points before halftime, turning that 21-0 deficit into a 48-21 lead. Philip Doyle’s 23-yard field goal with 11:26 remaining in the second quarter put Alabama ahead for good. The Rebels’ stunning start had become a distant memory before the teams even reached their locker rooms. Gary Hollingsworth directed the comeback with 363 passing yards and five touchdown passes, establishing Alabama’s single-game touchdown-pass record at the time. Craig Sanderson and Marco Battle each caught two scoring passes, while fullback Kevin Turner caught the other. Turner finished with 10 receptions for 126 yards and added a rushing touchdown on a fake field goal. Alabama’s defense joined the onslaught by forcing seven Ole Miss turnovers, and the Tide also blocked a field goal. Murry Hill rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown, while Siran Stacy’s fourth-quarter touchdown run completed Alabama’s 62-point scoring streak.

8th Anniversary for 2nd and 26 Eight years ago today, on January 8, 2018, Tua Tagovailoa connected with DeVonta Smith for a stunning 41-yard touchdown pass in overtime, securing a victory against the Georgia Bulldogs. This dramatic play clinched a walk-off championship for the Crimson Tide, marking Nick Saban's 5th national title in Tuscaloosa and the 17th national title in school history. Alabama beat UGA 26-23 in OT Do you believe that the 2nd and 26 play is the greatest play in Alabama history? Saban made a bold decision at halftime by benching Jalen Hurts after a challenging first half. Tua Tagovailoa proved to be the spark the Crimson Tide needed, catching Georgia off guard with his unique style of play. When I reflect on this game, I think about two players, Christian Miller and Terrell Lewis, who suffered injuries in the first game of the season against Florida State. These injuries were initially considered season-ending, but thanks to their hard work and dedication to extra rehab, both players managed to return in time for the National Championship. They played vital roles for the Crimson Tide during the Championship game, with Lewis making a crucial play in overtime that forced Georgia to kick a field goal. This gave Alabama the opportunity to score a touchdown and win the game. In the second half, Tua Tagovailoa had 14 completions on 24 attempts for 165 yards, with 3 touchdowns and 1 interception. In the first half, Jalen Hurts was 3 for 8 with 21 yards, 0 touchdowns, 0 interceptions, and had 47 yards rushing. Najee Harris contributed with 6 carries for 47 yards, and DeVonta Smith had 1 reception for 41 yards, which was the winning touchdown. Roll Tide to group a special group of players.

A memorable matchup for the Division 7 title saw Ohio's career-scoring leader try his best to give Cornerstone Christian the crown, but undefeated Russia would cap off the program's 1st-ever championship season with a 74-57 victory at UD Arena in Dayton. The Raiders (29-0) have been building up to this season with 11 senior members of the roster making their 3rd consecutive Final Four appearance. They looked like the more complete team in the opening minutes by building a 20-14 cushion heading into the second quarter, but that's when Quinn Kwasniak began to take matters into his own hands. The Army commit put up 15 of his game-high 38 points in the frame, cashing in a pair of logo 3-pointers that fueled the Patriots (21-9) crowd and dazzled everyone else in attendance. CCA would trim the deficit to 38-34 by the halftime break but failed to keep momentum out of the locker room. A big 3rd quarter from Braylon Cordonnier, where he scored 10 of his team-best 21 points, helped the Raiders create some separation on the scoreboard heading into the final stanza. On the strength of a 9-0 run midway through the fourth quarter, Russia would put the game away with three players finishing the night with 14+ points. An emotional crowd watched as the final seconds fell off the clock, ensuring the Raiders a perfect season in dominating fashion. The win is the 1,000th in program history for Russia, who have accumulated an impressive 81-6 overall record over the last 3 seasons. Kwasniak finished his career with a state record 3,341 points.
