History’s Zero: Putin Rewrites the Past. Again The dictator has distorted the history of World War II, conveniently forgetting that in 1939 the Soviet Union occupied eastern Poland, annexed the Baltic states, attacked Finland, and helped pave the way for the deadliest conflict in human history through its secret...

World War II began on September 1, 1939, when Nazi Germany invaded Poland. But the road to war had already been paved by a deal between Hitler and Stalin. The Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact divided Eastern Europe into Nazi Germany’s and the Soviet Union’s spheres of influence – and cleared the way for both regimes to act. Days later, Poland was attacked from the west and, on September 17, from the east by the Soviet Union. On the anniversary of the start of World War II, remember the full story – including the Hitler–Stalin conspiracy that made the war possible.

World War II didn’t begin with a lone invasion – it began with a deal. In 1939, Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union agreed to divide Europe. Days later, they both invaded Poland from opposite sides. The Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact laid the groundwork for the horrors that unfolded. #NeverAgainIsNow

One of the speakers on a Russian channel mentioned that the USSR invaded Finland and divided Poland with Germany in accordance with the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. In response, another speaker, the Stalinist Yevgeny Spitsyn, threatened to write a denunciation against him for "falsifying the history of World War II" and imprison him for several years.

September 17th marks the day on which the USSR officially colluded with the German Nazis and entered World War II – exactly 86 years ago, Soviet troops crossed Poland's eastern border in accordance with the secret protocol of the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. Today, mass murderer putin remains silent about it – or spreads lies.

At dawn on 1 September 1939, Nazi Germany invaded Poland, marking the beginning of the largest armed conflict in human history. Eighty-seven years later, we remember all those who gave their lives in defence of their homeland and fought against the invader for their own freedom and that of future generations. We remember the victims of the Second World War. We remember, so that history may never repeat itself.

FDR led the United States from isolationism to victory over Nazi Germany and its allies in World War II. He spearheaded the successful wartime alliance between Britain, the Soviet Union and the United States and helped lay the groundwork for the post-war peace organization that would become the United Nations. See his presidency unfold in the three night documentary series, FDR, premiering Memorial Day. #FDR

Hitler only wanted the part of Poland that was wrongfully taken away from Germany after World War 1. The Germans living in Poland at the time were subject to horrible persecution by the Poles. The war would’ve stopped there, but Britain and France declared war on Germany. The jews had already declared war on Germany in 1933.

Should Poland reclaim Lviv (Lwów) which now belongs to Ukraine? The city was the Polish center of cultural gravity for centuries. It had belonged to Poland since the Piast dynasty: in 1349, King Casimir the Great (the last Piast monarch) incorporated Lviv into the Kingdom of Poland, making it the capital of the Ruthenian Voivodeship. For over 400 years under the Polish Crown and later the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, Lwów flourished as one of the most important Polish cities, a vibrant hub of science, literature, theater, and education, home to the famous Lwów School of Mathematics and countless Polish writers, artists, and scholars. We lost it in 1939 when the Soviet Union invaded eastern Poland under the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact. After World War II, the Yalta and Potsdam conferences confirmed the city’s transfer to the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, and the Polish population was largely resettled westward. Here is a collection of rare footage and photos of pre-war Lwów, back when it belonged to Poland:

It’s a good day to remember that the Soviet Union was allied with Nazi Germany 1939-1941. It attacked and grabbed territory from Poland, Finland, the Baltic states & Romania in those years On May 1st 1941, Nazi generals participated in a parade in Moscow

Victor Davis Hanson: Tucker Carlson Is Rewriting the History of World War II Tucker Carlson’s interview with Jacob Rees-Mogg turned into a clash over World War II history, Britain’s decision to fight Hitler, and whether Britain could have stayed out of the war. Rees-Mogg pushed back with historical facts, arguing that Britain had already seen Hitler break his promises, invade Poland, and expand Nazi control across Europe. The argument is that Britain had no choice but to stand against Hitler and that rewriting the history of the war ignores why Britain ultimately fought. “Almost everything he said in that interview was false.” Victor Davis Hanson

World War II could have been prevented. But nobody except Stalin really wanted to stop Hitler. Not badly enough. The Soviet Union proposed a joint military front against Hitler. Britain and France stalled. Poland blocked transit. What happened in those few months before the war changes everything we think we know. I have put together a series of videos that will take you through 1939, the year that could have changed the rest of the century.

Apart from being a day of celebration of the Ukraine State Flag Day, today is also a day to remember a shameful date in European history. On August 23, 1939, Nazi Germany and Stalin’s regime in Moscow signed the Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact. Behind the façade of “non-aggression” lay secret protocols dividing Europe into spheres of influence — with sovereign nations treated as mere objects on a map. Days later, Hitler invaded Poland from the West. On September 17, Stalin invaded from the East. And on September 22, German and Soviet troops held a joint military parade in Brest to celebrate the conquest of Poland. The footage is attached. Today, Russians proudly proclaim: “Можем повторить” — “We can do it again.” The rhetoric, the imperial ambitions, the denial of other nations’ right to exist, the attempt to redraw borders by force - the historical parallels are becoming increasingly difficult to ignore. The question is not whether Russia can repeat 1939. The question is whether the rest of Europe will allow it to.

Communists and Nazis are two sides of the same totalitarian coin. After Stalin’s commies had spent years promoting themselves as true “anti-fascists” >they signed a non-aggression pact (Molotov-Ribbentrop) with the Nazis >a secret protocol to carve up Eastern Europe >they invaded Poland together >held a joint victory parade in Brest-Litovsk So the Soviets demanded every Communist Party in Europe and America to change their tune and push the narrative that their feud with the Nazis was an imperialist conflict not worth fighting. It wasn’t until Hitler’s sudden betrayal of their agreement and the Nazi march into Soviet Territory in 1941 (Operation Barbarossa) that the commies relaunched their anti-Nazi propaganda campaigns and declared the fight against fascism the moral struggle of the century.
