today in Hell Yeah Technology: an uncle of mine recently had a stroke he was at dinner with his family, making them laugh as usual. when they got home, he told his wife he was feeling “off.” by morning, he physically couldn’t get out of bed after being in a vegetative state for weeks, he’s conscious and doing a little better, but doctors say it’s unlikely he’ll ever speak or walk again thankfully, somehow, his dominant arm still works - so to make communication less frustrating for everyone involved, i built this local, iPad-first communication board for him with text-to-speech one of theee simplest, most important tools i’ve ever made being able to create something useful for a specific person’s needs, without any fluff, in a single sitting, is just unreal

A few months back Capt Amrinder Singh had said that he still gets bday greetings and messages from Rahul Gandhi , he also got his condolences msg on the passing of his cousin,while no one from BJP did so. Today RG said that Capt Amrinder is his favourite politician from BJP. Great msg from Jannayak that you can have political differences, ideology issues, ego clashes, but at the end of it there is still room for a healthy relation outside the periphery of politics. Thats what a good human is all about. Thats what makes #RahulGandhi stand out amongst all politicians in India today.

Walter had only been using the wheelchair for a few months, and he still hated having anyone fuss over him. At 82, he insisted on making the short trip down his driveway by himself, usually with his enormous Irish Wolfhound, Finn, walking beside him. Finn had learned Walter's new routine surprisingly quickly. He stayed clear of the wheels, slowed down whenever the chair slowed down and rarely wandered more than a few feet away. One afternoon, Walter rolled out onto the driveway while his granddaughter stood in the doorway behind him. He stopped for a moment and thought he had locked the wheelchair brakes. One of them hadn't caught. The driveway had just enough slope that the chair began moving backward. Walter felt it immediately and grabbed for the wheel, but it kept rolling. "Finn... wait." The old wolfhound looked at the chair and moved. Finn stepped directly behind it, turned his huge gray body sideways and planted all four paws against the concrete. The wheelchair rolled only a short distance before its rear frame came gently against his broad shoulder. Finn held his ground. Once the chair stopped, he looked toward the house and started barking. The first bark got Walter's granddaughter's attention, and by the third she could see what had happened. "Grandpa?" She ran down the driveway. Finn stayed exactly where he was until she reached the wheelchair, grabbed both handles and locked the brakes properly. "I've got you," she told Walter. "Yesterday on our way home, we broke down 2 hours away from home... on a busy interstate with three kids in tow. It wasn't exactly ideal, especially with a hungry newborn. I wouldn't get the baby out of his seat to feed him incase we got smacked by another vehicle on the highway, he was the safest in his seat. We called dispatch and AAA and an Alabama State Trooper showed up to help. I thought he was just going to divert traffic away from our lane, but he did so much more than that. He loaded the kids and I in his car and got us off the highway and to the closest rest stop. Sean stayed with the car to wait for the tow truck. He checked the bathroom for 'boogieman so Madeline could use the restroom. He shot illuminating helicopters in the sky with the kids while I made calls to try to get home. Major got really fussy when I was trying to wrangle my other children and calm them down from the evening's happenings. Without hesitation, he took Major out of his seat and gave him the bottle I had prepared from earlier. It seemed like he does that every day, knew how to hold him and when to burp him. Major even filled his pants during his feeding and the trooper laughed and continued feeding him. He then helped unload all our stuff from our car to his and drove our family to the nearest hotel. It was late, nothing was open, and we couldn't get a rental car until the morning. He helped unload our unruly amount of crap into our hotel room, told us where all the rental car places were, gave the girls a hug, and told us to call if we needed anything. That my friends... is humanity." 🙏
