Language one. NYSC, I had 3 Yoruba pals who’d speak Yoruba among themselves & I didn't bother. But If I took a call in Igbo, they’d snap: “Talk wetin we dey hear na”. It's a coping mechanism. Most Nigerians are indoctrinated in childhood to always be on guard dealing with Igbos

Tribal differences used to be this funny and enjoyable until Tinubu discovered he couldn’t win elections without weaponising them

Tribal humor. Some people there must have been very uncomfortable.

Tribal humor was typically funny until Tinubu and the APC happened to Nigeria. This too shall pass.

This seems like a joke but this is hard core reality for Igbos when it comes to Yoruba

It sounds fun as a joke, but this is so true As a young corper .. who served in one government agency back in 2009/2010.. I experienced that, and it was my first real encounter with Yoruba dislike for Igbo speaking. I will be speaking Igbo with a fellow Igbo in the lab, and they would immediately assume that you are talking about them.. obviously because that is what they do So they assume everyone is like them.

Another. The average Igbo who understands another Nigerian language is so keen to use it to connect. But many others who understand Igbo are likely to conceal that fact. Hoping to use it to spy on what the Igbo fellow may be discussing against them. It's how they’re conditioned

No sentiments.😂😂. I witness this on a regular basis.. They’re so uncomfortable with the language.. if you’re in their midst start speaking Igbo to your fellow Igbo person .. watch their body language 😂😂 E dey work like magic 😂

I was born in Lagos but from Edo state. Our Yoruba neighbors calls us “omo igbo” even when i tell them where im from, they still call us igbo. My father was a teacher in Lagos as a civil servant, he was denied principal privilege cos he’s “omo igbo” even if he is Edo and retired.
