Here we have another HOA horror story. This gentleman likes to sit in his garage in a folding chair. The lunatics of the HOA have a problem with this stating that what he’s doing is “porch type activity”. And the crazy thing is,in a lot of HOA laws they can tell you what you can and cannot do in your own garage. I’ll point out that the lady next to him is peeling an egg and doing “kitchen type activities” at an HOA meeting, but that’s neither here nor there..

This woman lives in an HOA. The back of her yard backs up into an easement that is owned by the HOA. The trees back there are on the easement. She points out that there are fallen branches all over her neighbors yard because of the trees and there were many in her yard as well. So she and her children went and picked up all the branches and sticks in her yard and then she piled them up under the tree. She said since the tree is on the HOA easement, it’s their problem. She wants to know if she is the bad guy in all this. If it were me, I’d maintain my yard and put the branches and sticks out for the trash pickup. Do you think she is in the right and it’s the HOA’s problem? Or do you think she is wrong and is making a mountain out of a molehill and there are better hills to plant your flag on?

Silver Ridge Estates HOA President Ronald wrote to a non-HOA neighbor and ordered him to: • Clear out his entire driveway immediately • Let HOA residents park in it Monday–Friday while they do road work • Leave his driveway lights on at night for “their” safety • Not schedule any of his own deliveries or projects Their reason? “Your driveway is substantially larger… it would be unreasonable for HOA residents to drive through the construction zone.” They have zero authority over his private property and still wrote this like they own him. They sent another letter last night to every residence in the neighborhood, EXCEPT the three homes that handle their own lawns. Now they are openly trying to pit the whole neighborhood against those three homeowners. They are basically telling everyone if you have a problem with the new changes, do not come to us. Go talk to the guys with the perfect stripes and emerald green grass instead. So tell me. Should our lawn guy back down, or double down?

This man said this is what grinds his gears. His neighbors mow their yard but they always leave their grass clippings out in the street. 😳 He said they should be sweeping them up or blowing them back into their yard and if they don’t have a blower then use the lawnmower itself. I use a bag so I don’t ever have to worry about the clippings going everywhere. But not sure it would bother me that much if I saw my neighbor’s clippings. Luckily, I don’t have neighbors like this. Would this bother you? Do you have a neighbor or neighbors like this? Do you clean up your grass clippings or do you let the chips (clips) just fall where they may?

This man lives in an HOA community. He was fined $1,400 dollars for parking his $90K pickup truck in his driveway. There is an HOA rule in that community that does not allow you to park your truck in the driveway. You have to park it in the garage. You can park any car in the driveway but not a truck. So, he paid his $1,400 dollar fine in coins which he delivered to the HOA’s President, in buckets. I guess you should really look at the rules before you buy a house in an HOA community. Have you ever heard of an HOA having a rule of not being able to park your pickup truck in your own driveway? What would you do?
