A Detroit man is fighting for his life after he tried to flee ICE agents and crashed violently. Mohammad Abdessamed, driving a Chevy Malibu, lost control near Whitlock and Warwick on the west side Thursday. His car smashed through a gated fence, hit a garage, and a metal pole went straight through his upper body. He’s in critical condition. Home surveillance caught the impact. Unmarked ICE vehicles arrived right after. DHS confirms he struck multiple government cars during the evasion and pinned an agent’s leg in a door. This is the deadly price of choosing flight over compliance. DHS made the following statement: "Yesterday, ICE officers attempted a lawful vehicle stop on the west side of Detroit during a targeted enforcement operation. As officers attempted the stop, the suspect immediately dangerously tried to evade arrest and struck three government vehicles, pinning an ICE officer’s leg in the car door. The suspect continued on before losing control of his vehicle and crashing through a fence and a garage before the vehicle came to a stop on top of two other vehicles. An ICE officer and the suspect were transported to area hospitals for treatment. This incident remains an active and ongoing investigation, and we will update the public as more information becomes available."

Gabriel has since had a stroke. Half of his body is now paralyzed. ICE refuses to let him speak to his family out of fear he might tell them the Texas hospital room he is languishing in. His daughter is demanding he come home, saying, “This is not love, this is not care, this is not America.” I am asking ICE to release Gabriel immediately to reunite with his family and get the medical care he needs.
