Today’s Episode on being a prayerful full-house husband who takes care of the home. Yesterday, while my wife was trekking 15 miles home from work, she suddenly developed a running stomach. An elected official in my town runs the local social media group where most people get their news. When she saw stories she didn’t like, or that didn’t show her in the best light, she would remove the posts and block residents. She even blocked me while I was running against her for office - breaking her oath of office. So I asked myself: what’s something she can’t censor? A real, printed local newspaper. I reached out to two incredible women and shared my idea to bring real, fact-based news and resources back to our community. We don’t always agree and that’s exactly what makes the paper strong. Not only do we provide local news, we highlight local heroes, share important reminders, provide resources for those in need, and publish a community calendar. The response from residents and local businesses has been so overwhelming that we’re now able to deliver the paper to every household in town, completely free to residents.

Being a toddler can be such a frustrating thing. As expert observers, toddlers are keenly aware of the examples being set around them - and deeply motivated to be just like YOU. The good news is that, thanks to their rapidly transforming motor, cognitive, and language skills, much of this emulation becomes possible (at least in early forms). But with these skills also still very much in development, toddlers’ desires and expectations can sometimes come into conflict with their actual/current abilities. And that can be hard. So much of what we consider the “terrible twos” is rooted in this frustration. Which is why I love this video. This backyard zip line isn’t within little Lyra’s skill set. But you can totally see where she might feel left out as her siblings ride time and again. Enter grandma and grandpa, who - together, slowly, safely, and appropriately - enable her to experience just the thing she wants most: To be one of the big kids. And her delight is just palpable. I made that video with Tina laying beside me today. I had to make as much time for her as I can because she is so special and asks for so little. Tina taken a turn for the worse in the last couple of days. She has everything she could possibly want in terms of vet support, treatments, food and company. She is still upbeat and positive in her attitude but the body is starting to say no. It’s incredibly sad and I’ve damp eyes even writing this but this is real life unfortunately. I even contemplated not sharing any bad news updates about her as I don’t want to upset people. Tina is deeply loved by more people than she’ll ever know. I’m hopeful there can be some more good days ahead for her. ❤️

I miss Seo Ye Ji. 🤧 Say what you want about her, but one thing nobody can take away from her is her screen presence. She’s one of those actresses who doesn’t even need to say a word; the moment she appears on screen, your eyes automatically follow her. From Save Me to It’s Okay to Not Be Okay and even Eve, she had this aura that made every scene feel bigger than it was. Whether you loved her character or hated her character, you watched. And that’s a rare talent. It’s been years since Eve, and I still find myself waiting for that one drama announcement that will put her back on my screen full time. Apparently, she has slowly returned to acting through theater and stage performances after her hiatus, but I need a proper Kdrama comeback. Kdramaland just doesn’t feel the same without Seo Ye Ji serving face, charisma, fashion, and that slightly unhinged vibe only she can pull off. 🥹

I've been refraining from addressing this person because frankly she's irrelevant to my life, even though she's been obsessed with me for years. But her recent uptick in psychotic behaviors finally warrants a post. Jess Machado could not be any more accurate if her life was on the line. Just dropping truth bombs like it's Christmas morning. If I were Aidan, I would invest in a state of the art security system equipped with cameras at every angle, nuke my devices, make the switch to a Droid (make fun of me all you want), get a private security detail, and sleep with one eye open for the rest of my Goddamn life. Meredith "Swimfan" O'Neil should know that I know so much more than she could ever imagine about the crimeS she's been committing. People have been flooding my DMs (and phone calls 😉) with unsolicited evidence of everything she's done (from the last 3 years; to her antics after her lackluster publicity stunt of a relationship ended when she was dumped; to her most recent activities). I genuinely cannot understand how someone can watch this story and still stand there, looking at two women, and somehow decide that the wrong one is the victim. On one side, you have a girl (Yıldız) who has been mistreated her entire life. Since the moment she was born, she was treated like a sacrifice for a conflict she was never even part of and later we find out that this conflict never even existed. Her right to study was taken from her. She was pushed into a marriage at a very young age just imagine being six, seven, eight years old, living in fear of being tied to someone you don’t even know. She was treated like a servant in her own home, by the very people she thought were her family. And just when she gets close to the happiness she dreamed of, the man she was engaged to shows up with another wife. She gets mistreated by that wife, by his family, and even (unintentionally) by him, because he was trying to run away from his own feelings, and that only caused her more heartbreak. The whole world was literally against her. She fought through all of that, only to find out in the end that everything she suffered for was based on something that wasn’t even real. Her entire life was built on a lie. That she isn’t even part of that family that she has literally no one in this world. Now on the other side… You have a girl (Melek) who, yes, was taken from her biological mother but she was raised by loving parents. She had everything anyone could wish for: education, freedom, a happy childhood, a healthy environment. She lived her life, fell in love, went out, made choices and no one questioned her, no one controlled her. And then what did she do? She found out that her man was engaged to another woman before marrying her (and even saw him marry her) and instead of holding on to her dignity, she chose to stay, to fight for a man who lied to her, to hold onto a marriage he tried to end multiple times. She used her unborn child to keep him tied to her. She lied constantly, and her excuse was that she was “protecting her marriage” a marriage that was already broken from the moment Serhat removed that ring at the airport in episode one. She tried to hand Yıldız (a woman who had already suffered enough) over to dangerous people. Then she found out the truth about her own birth (that her father ra*ped her mother.)And still no empathy. No moment of humanity toward her own mother. All she cared about was herself. And even though none of this had anything to do with Yıldız, she still found a way to blame it on her. Instead of holding her father accountable, she went and made a deal with him to get rid of Yıldız. She literally made a deal with the devil just to hurt Yıldız one more time. And after all of that… you want me to feel sorry for her? You want me to call her a victim? I honestly cannot believe we are living on the same planet with people who see this and still say, “she’s the victim.” Not morally. Not logically. Not emotionally. Ever heard the expression “shit rolls downhill”? Well we hit the bottom of the hill this week. Jobs were stacked way too tight on the schedule. Our operators were running 7 days a week, not finishing a job, and moving on to the next one with plans to return. Their hours were getting out of control too. Hitting 75 hours per week each. A surefire way to reach burnout. They’d be rushed to get to the next job, set a task to return to the last one, and move all the equipment over to the new one. This meant cash flow came to a screeching halt while expenses shot to the moon. Returning to a job to finish means a minimum of $500 in costs just to bring the equipment there and back. An unnecessary expense had we just took the time to finish properly in the first place. I’ve been nose deep in marketing and sales while this was happening and trusted that the production process was working. It wasn’t. They finally reached out and asked for help... at 8pm. We had 4 jobs set to start the next day and one of the trailers broke an axle. Rescheduling over 50 jobs is no easy task, and one they were all avoiding that created the problem in the first place. It’s difficult to tuck your tail between your legs and let a customer know their job needs to be pushed back up to 30 days. So I set into triage mode. Called each customer personally that was set to start the next day and let them know what was going on and what we needed to do. I then laid out every job on the schedule and set about not only fixing the current problem, but making sure it didn’t happen in the future. I wiped the jobs off the rest of the week so the team could go finish the jobs we left open ended and finish them properly. I then cleared every job off Fridays and weekends. This prevents burnout, overtime, and gives us 3 days a week to absorb rainouts, equipment issues, and job delays. This pushed the schedule 2 months further out, so I had to do the part everyone dreaded. Alerting the customers of their new start date. I reached out individually to each one to let them know. Fortunately, our customers are incredible and were very understanding. Nobody cancelled their job. Our operators have room to breathe, our quality can stay top notch, our cash flow returns, and the bandaid is ripped off. Now let’s get to work damnit!
