En un principio, los marcianos de "Mars Attacks!" iban a tener su propia lengua, que se subtitularía y se definiría más adelante. Mientras tanto, en el guion se dejó un "ack ack ack" como simple marcador para señalar cuándo hablaban los alienígenas. Este recurso provisional resultó ser tan divertido y encajaba tan bien con el tono de la película que nadie llegó a desarrollar aquella lengua alienígena. El "ack ack ack" se quedó tal cual, y se creó grabando el graznido de un pato y reproduciéndolo al revés.
