It was founded in the year 565 by Byzantine Emperor Justinian I, with the oldest record of monastic life in the Sinai area dating to 381 to 384. It is one of the oldest monasteries in the world, and THE oldest continually inhabited one. It was originally called the Monastery of the Holy Virgin, as the Burning Bush was a prefiguration of the Virgin birth of Jesus Christ. The Chapel of the Burning Bush was ordered to be built around the site of the Burning Bush by St. Helen, the mother of St. Constantine the Great. St. Catherine’s relics are also held here. It has never been destroyed, and has always remained in possession of the Greek speaking world. Both the Bible and Holy Tradition tell us that Elijah and Moses walked this mountain of Mt. Sinai, in 1 Kings 19 where Elijah heard the Lord. According to “the Ashtiname of Muhammad,” Muhammad himself granted a charter to the Orthodox Christian monks here at St. Catherine’s for protection and immunity against Islamic attacks. It is sealed with an alleged imprint of Muhammad’s hand. This was a real event that took place on Mount Sinai, recorded in Exodus chapter 24. God invited Moses, Aaron, Nadab, Abihu, and seventy elders of Israel to come up the mountain. And there, something extraordinary happened. They saw the God of Israel. Under His feet was a pavement made of sapphire stone, as clear as the very heavens itself — pure, radiant, and breathtaking. Think about that for a moment. These were sinful men standing in the presence of the infinitely holy God. Normally, no one can see God and live. They should have been consumed by His glory. They should have trembled in fear. But instead… nothing happened to them. They were not destroyed. They were not struck down. They beheld God. They saw His glory. And then they ate and drank in His presence.

The video below shows Flourish Peters, leader of the LOGIC Church in Lagos, revealing the type of preacher the apostles warned believers about. A member asked him how he'd explain the Flood and God destroying the earth since he'd taught God never killed or kills in the previous Sunday. At 00:03, he begins by discrediting Moses’ authorship and witness of the Genesis account, dismissing the flood narrative because “Moses was not there.” This is a serious claim. Whether knowingly or not, by denying the credibility of Moses, Peters essentially calls God a liar. God revealed the early creation account to Moses. As Scripture says, “No prophecy ever came by human will, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit” (2 Peter 1:21). Rejecting Moses’ account is rejecting God's revelation. This is typical of those who do not speak for the God of the Bible. At 00:51, Peters insists that the flood account should not be read as historical. Brethren, a so-called preacher denies what God, Jesus, and His apostles established happened. He tries to obscure the issue with theological jargon, saying, “What happened to Noah was theology, and the ark was the shadow.” This statement is not only theologically meaningless but also misleading. At 01:47, he goes further to reinterpret the Genesis flood, claiming that the event was not God’s doing, but rather the “absence of God.” This means it wasn't God who rained the flood that destroyed the world in judgment. He argues that the ark represented Christ, and just as we invite people to the gospel today, God was inviting people into the ark—not judging them. But Scripture says otherwise: “And God said to Noah… ‘Behold, I will bring a flood of waters upon the earth to destroy all flesh’” (Genesis 6:13, 17). “The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become... so the Lord said, ‘I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created’” (Genesis 6:5–7). Let's even assume it is like the call of the gospel, would God not judge in eternal damnation those who reject the gospel? So, why deny God judged the world in the flood? It is because the God men like him speak about must permit sin. He is not the God of the Bible. It is the doctrine of demons. By brazenly denying this, Flourish Peters strips God of His justice, righteousness, and sovereign authority to judge sin. This is the hallmark of the false doctrines the Bible warns about. A denial of the core attributes of God. These false preachers create a god in their own image, one who tolerates sin. This is not the God of the Bible who speaks through these men. This is the Babylon the Great, the harlot of Revelation. He further attempts to use Hebrews to reinterpret Genesis 5–6. Interestingly, he didn't use the actual chapters in Genesis to answer the question. Why? Because he was going to present a God who wasn't revealed in the Bible. What Peters denies, the apostle Peter affirms: “By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed” (2 Peter 3:6). Here, Apostle Peter said God destroyed the world in a flood. But Flourish Peters denies and rejects that. This man leads a popular church in Lagos. Instead of answering the simple question—Who destroyed the earth?—Peters claims the flood story is only “revelational,” not historical. This is baseless. Revelation does not cancel historicity. God revealed creation to Moses, yet it happened. Revelation does not equal fiction. Shockingly, Peters also denies God’s final judgment, rejecting the biblical truth that God will destroy the earth at the end of time: "By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly." (2 Peter 2:3) "But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. (2 Pet. 2:10) Here, the Bible says God will judge the world by His word with fire. Peters denies that. This is a heresy, brethren, a denial of the core tenets of the faith. He concludes by boasting that attendees of his church have the equivalent of a diploma in theology and are more enlightened than many pastors because they listen to him. He claims he’s “done a clean job.” This is the clean job he did - implying God lied, rejecting the teachings of the apostles, and darkening biblical doctrine. Brethren, this video reveals the kind of minister Flourish Peters truly is—an enemy of Christ. Paul warned us: “For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:13–14) “Now I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Avoid them.” (Romans 16:17). Look at what Paul further said about people like him: “They will say, ‘Where is this ‘coming’ He promised?’... But the day of the Lord will come like a thief” (2 Peter 3:4–10). These men in their ungodliness deny the Lord, His word, and His sovereignty. They shipwreck the faith of many. These are the wolves Paul tearfully warned the Ephesian elders about (Acts 20:29–30). They walk among us—dangerous, persuasive, and deceitful. Mark and avoid them. They do not speak for God, and His judgment awaits their rebellion. P.S. The root of these heresies in Nigeria is Segun Onayinka—the chief architect of this false gospel. By God’s grace, we will share his falsehood in due time. Amen.

Whether knowingly or not, by denying the credibility of Moses, Peters essentially calls God a liar. God revealed the early creation account to Moses. As Scripture says, “No prophecy ever came by human will, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit” (2 Peter 1:21). Rejecting Moses’ account is rejecting God's revelation. This is typical of those who do not speak for the God of the Bible. At 00:51, Peters insists that the flood account should not be read as historical. Brethren, a so-called preacher denies what God, Jesus, and His apostles established happened. He tries to obscure the issue with theological jargon, saying, “What happened to Noah was theology, and the ark was the shadow.” This statement is not only theologically meaningless but also misleading. At 01:47, he goes further to reinterpret the Genesis flood, claiming that the event was not God’s doing, but rather the “absence of God.” This means it wasn't God who rained the flood that destroyed the world in judgment. He argues that the ark represented Christ, and just as we invite people to the gospel today, God was inviting people into the ark—not judging them. But Scripture says otherwise: “And God said to Noah… ‘Behold, I will bring a flood of waters upon the earth to destroy all flesh’” (Genesis 6:13, 17). “The Lord saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become... so the Lord said, ‘I will wipe from the face of the earth the human race I have created’” (Genesis 6:5–7). Let's even assume it is like the call of the gospel, would God not judge in eternal damnation those who reject the gospel? So, why deny God judged the world in the flood? It is because the God men like him speak about must permit sin. He is not the God of the Bible. It is the doctrine of demons. By brazenly denying this, Flourish Peters strips God of His justice, righteousness, and sovereign authority to judge sin. This is the hallmark of the false doctrines the Bible warns about. A denial of the core attributes of God. These false preachers create a god in their own image, one who tolerates sin. This is not the God of the Bible who speaks through these men. This is the Babylon the Great, the harlot of Revelation. He further attempts to use Hebrews to reinterpret Genesis 5–6. Interestingly, he didn't use the actual chapters in Genesis to answer the question. Why? Because he was going to present a God who wasn't revealed in the Bible. What Peters denies, the apostle Peter affirms: “By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed” (2 Peter 3:6). Here, Apostle Peter said God destroyed the world in a flood. But Flourish Peters denies and rejects that. This man leads a popular church in Lagos. Instead of answering the simple question—Who destroyed the earth?—Peters claims the flood story is only “revelational,” not historical. This is baseless. Revelation does not cancel historicity. God revealed creation to Moses, yet it happened. Revelation does not equal fiction. Shockingly, Peters also denies God’s final judgment, rejecting the biblical truth that God will destroy the earth at the end of time: "By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly." (2 Peter 2:3) "But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare. (2 Pet. 2:10) Here, the Bible says God will judge the world by His word with fire. Peters denies that. This is a heresy, brethren, a denial of the core tenets of the faith. He concludes by boasting that attendees of his church have the equivalent of a diploma in theology and are more enlightened than many pastors because they listen to him. He claims he’s “done a clean job.” This is the clean job he did - implying God lied, rejecting the teachings of the apostles, and darkening biblical doctrine. Brethren, this video reveals the kind of minister Flourish Peters truly is—an enemy of Christ. Paul warned us: “For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, masquerading as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:13–14) “Now I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Avoid them.” (Romans 16:17). Look at what Paul further said about people like him: “They will say, ‘Where is this ‘coming’ He promised?’... But the day of the Lord will come like a thief” (2 Peter 3:4–10). These men in their ungodliness deny the Lord, His word, and His sovereignty. They shipwreck the faith of many. These are the wolves Paul tearfully warned the Ephesian elders about (Acts 20:29–30). They walk among us—dangerous, persuasive, and deceitful. Mark and avoid them.
