The answer was chilling. The Parliamentary Budget Officer responded: “Everybody should be concerned… This is the first time in 30 years we’ve tabled an outlook where the fiscal anchor, the most important anchor for any government is no longer declining or stable. It’s going up. That is definitely a cause for concern… It’s certainly not sustainable.”
