AOC claims that you can’t earn a billion dollars. Her sentiment is based on wanting to spread the wealth around. On its face, that sounds nice. But what she’s not considering is that one of the reasons people accumulate massive amounts of wealth is because they take massive amounts of legal risks. One benefit of being an employee is that you have little risk if the company you work for goes out of business. You just need to find another job. But if you run the company or own a significant part of it, then you’re more heavily invested in its success. Billionaires like Elon Musk took enormous risks to accumulate enormous wealth.
