Compare the Gasoline prices from some other oil producing countries to what we're paying in Canada. Why does it cost 4 cents per litre in Iran, but 2 bucks per litre in Canada?

Producers - sell to refiners - oil cost is set by the market - it is global - so if the price goes up $20 a barrel - producers use the market price - they sell to all refiners the market price. So even if your country has alot of oil producers - it doesn’t keep prices low. It keeps oil flowing “no shortage”

Why is it a global mkt price... This is a ponzi scheme.. front end loaded.. High price = more tax revenue = you pay more. This asset belongs ultimately to the ppl of the country concerned. They should be asking nicely if they can have 10% fuel duty.. We are being systemically robbed..

The US has always had cheaper gas & has seen a sharper rise in price. Any disruption to the supply chain causes a spike. No amount of oil Alberta puts out can offset a war in Iran. That vital piece of the supply chain on the other side of the world isn't being replaced by Alberta

You need to learn how global economy is structured and learn what commodities has global unified prices .

The US has always paid less for gas. Ours is taxed higher. The oil is owned by oil companies and sold at global prices (100.00 per barrel) regardless of where or or how much is produced. Canada could reduce tax on oil and gas to help.

I wonder if people know that if we use the Canadian metrics, the US gas price is more than 1$ lower than the Canadian gas price. They still pay less than 1$ per L
