Man. These descriptions are so wrong. Shonen is just manga aimed at teenage boys and shojo is just manga aimed at teenage girls, nothing less, nothing more. Its just the demographics, the story can be dark/obscure and be shojo or can be a romance and be shonen.

With manga, the target demographic is determined solely by the publishing magazine, not just by the title's content. Otherwise, Death Note or Attack on Titan would be seinen, but they aren't; they are shounen. Chi's Sweet Home, on the other hand, is a seinen title.
