Starting with iOS 27, we can actually convert a tab bar to a sidebar. A new modifier was introduced to do this. “.defaultTabBarPlacement(.sidebar)” As of current testing, this seems to work on iPhones as well when the app is in landscape mode. This is the same behavior used in the iPhone Health app, where the tab bar converts into a sidebar in landscape mode!

X is finally rolling out the redesign of profiles and tabs! 🔥 The classic blue is gone, active tabs now highlight in black or white, with icons appearing next to the active tab name. You’ll also feel satisfying haptics every time you switch tabs. Profiles just got a lot cleaner: tabs have been replaced by icons, reducing visual clutter. Posts & Highlights are now combined into one tab (just tap to switch between them). Same with Videos & Photos. A brand new Reposts tab has been added, so everything you repost lives there instead of mixing with your original posts. Plus, your posts no longer appear in the Replies tab.
