A horse chestnut is a callous-like growth on the inner side of a horse's legs, above the knee on front legs and below the hock on hind legs. Made of keratin, like hooves, they're evolutionary remnants of ancient toes from multi-toed horse ancestors. Each horse's chestnuts are unique, like fingerprints, and can be used for identification. They're usually harmless but can be sensitive, so groomers often peel or trim them for neatness. Despite the myth that they help horses see in the dark (called "night eyes"), they have no such function.

Yeah, but some horses don’t like it and that one doesn’t like it maybe get it softened up first so you know it was originally a toe. Maybe you were educate people and say that.
