Nah, a local church is too big when its elder team cannot personally know every single consistently attending congregant (collectively). You can’t shepherd people you don’t know. A farmer needs to know every square foot of his farm. A shepherd needs to know all his sheep. Etc.

If a pastor thinks that the purpose of worship on Sunday is evangelism then he doesn’t understand his job. Church is for the sheep not the goats. You can’t properly shepherd a flock you don’t have a personal relationship with.

Big churches can leverage big resources to make a big impact and Lakepointe does that. Small churches are great too. Pastor Josh has led all sizes, he knows what he’s talking about.

Jesus preached to the 5,000, plus I believe in Jewish culture at that time they would only count the men. So there could have been over 20,000 people there. He also preached to one woman by a well. In any place at any time to any amount of people, it’s right to preach his word.
