What struck me was how Western Devs don't talk like this anymore: - We need to push harder for better optimization and compatibility. - We always want to bring you a better game experience. The whole interview is like this, about delivering what gamers want. The focus on the gamer is relentless. Western interviews tend to be more about "what WE wanted to do" which is more dev as storyteller focus and "if you don't like it don't play it."

For most of the last two decades, our ability to make things on mobile devices has been pretty limited. We got good at writing emails, taking photos and videos, and doing some light editing. But the vast majority of our time was still spent consuming. One under-discussed shift is how much AI has unlocked creation on mobile. People are literally coding iOS apps on their iPhones now. The activation energy has dropped dramatically. This is true for Notion as well. Writing a doc or creating and managing a database used to be fairly involved, not to mention the paper cuts that we are fixing fast. The new agent on mobile has made creation 10x faster and better. And I should add, 100x more fun! In this demo, I use our iOS app exclusively by interacting with the agent. I never type into a doc or a database. I just ask the agent to make things, add things, and update things, and it goes and does it. Take a look, and let me know what you think!

Free Loadouts should be used to get enough Ressources or leftover Gear to power your next Loadout run, not as a only thing you play.

If there is one thing that is abundantly clear after SpaceX's Q2 earnings call, it's that people are sleeping on Starlink Mobile. The potential of this business if vastly under-appreciated, and I think it will disrupt the legacy carriers in a way that most people aren't expecting. Just like what we saw with Hughnet after Starlink Residential launched, and with Viasat after Starlink Aviation launched, these legacy mobile companies will start to bleed users when these next-gen sats come online. Sounds like Starlink Mobile will have a reliable terrestrial service, even in urban areas, thanks to the use of base stations from existing Starlink dishes, lowering Capex spend on SpaceX's part.

Advice from Brandon for anyone looking to work on a platform team: "You should try to work at a tech company for a year or two and actually see what happens after you ship a system — and then the assumptions change! You then have to figure out how to keep this thing going. You get a bunch of software design intuition because you have to like re-evaluate your assumptions for an incredibly long time. If you can do that, you're probably ready for platform stuff." 𝟯. 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗔𝗜 𝗰𝗼𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗳𝗲𝗲𝗹 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 “𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲” 𝘆𝗲𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗲. LLMs integrated into IDEs seem to be increasingly helpful with backend, fullstack, web and even cross-platform (React Native / Expo) projects. However, Reddit’s mobile team shared that they get a moderate boost from the Apple and Android Studio LLM additions. Native mobile development is distinctively different from web, fullstack and backend coding – and it seems that these IDEs with AI functionality have not done much to optimize for the expereince of native mobile engineers. Over time, this will likely change – but it’s a reminder that there are differences between fullstack, backend and native mobile development.(I wrote a book reflecting on more of the challenges unique to native mobile titled Building Mobile Apps at Scale)
