New smart phones & smet tvs have what we called “Screen Mirroring”,or am I missing something..???

You could also get a USB-C to HDMI cable for 1/4 the price. Princess cruise lines (and some hotel chains) lock their HDMI ports....they do not allow access to the ""input"" screen. Holland America doesn't.

A lot of hotels are now blocking external devices, I bring my Xbox and PS5 sometimes with me on my weekly travels (250 nights a year) and WiFi signups are getting more and more difficult at Hilton and Marriott properties. I find Hilton properties easier than Marriott also. Apple TV always works for me since the WiFi connection gets authorized first thru my iPhone or IPad. Not sure what to do with android devices since my personal phone is a P10 pro but my work phone is an iPhone 17. Xbox tends to work often too due to the edge app on the Xbox, I always have issues with my PS5 when I bring that, but I purchased a travel router just for that reason that works great.

I've had a wired version of something like this for ages. I've started finding hotels blocking the hdmi ports. Last place I went was a Holiday Inn in the panhandle and they had hot-glued the extra port shut as well as the port their box was plugged into... So I just used the end going into the box which was left alone...

What's with the power of the receiver? HDMI doesn't have Power Over HDMI

My phone already does that without needing any device.

I always just bring my laptop loaded with movies and HDMI out to the TV. No Internet.

Hotels don't give two shts about this device - doesn't impact them in any way. Also, flexing about not having to connect to the hotel wifi while being connected to the carrier's network is not what you think it is.

Many of the hotel TVs I’ve seen lately won’t accept any direct HDMI input.

better yet... unplug ac power to tv... throw bed top comforter over tv.... go to sleep

Why wont you just buy a chromecast/firestick? Which are much cheaper than this? You obviously will use wifi whenever you will stream so WiFi can never be an issue.
