How a cracked glass windshield is repaired

why not just buy a new windshield i would imagine the window is weaker now once fixed like this

I did this to my window a little while ago, and a year later, it turned into this big huge blob in the middle of my windshield that was now distorting my view when looking through it. Just leave it cracked and start putting $20 aside from every paycheck until u can afford to buy a new one. I replaced mine for $250.
