So this is how a French drain collection system works, except I would like to see either sock pipe or filter fabric if it's to last more than a few rain events. Then you need a discharge system, either a dry well, a daylight exit to a stormwater conveyance, or to a strom drain.

We use these at the golf course. Gravel needs to encompass the entire pipe and you need a lean out on the high end to run a hose thru every few years. It’s what’s in most bunkers and low areas on course.
