How a stone fish uses its venom [📹 Perry Kathryn:

They look like a rock and can survive out of water for up to 24 hours…Satan himself helped this one evolve.

Yes, yes I know plenty of these buggers in Australia. We even had a freshwater version called the bullrout. So one, good footwear if you’re walking around in the shallows don’t step on rocks. They just sit on top of the sand like rocks so walk on the sand. Two if you accidentally catch one, best to just cut the line off. They are incredibly docile until they are not. I have pliers to remove the hooks. Three if you get stung by one get your hands or foot in as hot water as you can tolerate asap to denature the toxin as much as possible for up to an hour and a half. Then get yourself to hospital for painkillers and the antivenom. We have about 1000 cases a year in Australia. People have died from the venom. I been lucky but I do know what they are and play it safe. Rarely walk around the shallows without footwear.

I stepped on a stonefish once when diving in Mauritius - it was buried in the sand and I didn't see it. I was wearing hard-plastic flippers at the time, forunately, or it probably would have gone very badly for me.

This is the stuff of nightmares

"This is the most venomous fish in the world. Look at me manipulating it without gloves"

Good to know where the most-venomous creature on Earth lives.

@CyresKenneth Why is he demonstrating this BAREHANDED???

What do Stonefish absolutely love more than anything else? - To be taken out of their natural habitat and fucked around with by humans.

yeah that’s why i don’t drink blue powerade it’s the same stuff
