Hard disagree. Base44 for technical and skipping server and database part? Yeah maybe if your shipping for yourself, but for companies with an existing tech stack and for technical people like me who wants to control where I should deploy my code, its not a even a debate.

I’ve used them all, When you vibe code, at one point the LLMs start accumulating errors which they can’t fix cuz they can’t see them (similar to counting “r” in strawberries). At this point you need to edit the code to unlock the LLLm. This is why no 100% vibe coding is a myth

Base what?

“event the most technical uses would prefer building inside base44” maybe the most technical pm’s. definitely not engineers

Let’s go!! Crushing it within $WIX …and yet even though beat and raised guidance, now investors pretend to be worried about gross margin compression Which literally is as a result of their AI tools taking off

As of now technical people prefer to see the code. Will we eventually get to fully hands-off coding? Maybe. But I don’t think it’s anytime soon.

He has a market, people who don't know how to read code but he will never be able to get someone who does to like this. We need to see our code for security, bugs, to spot when its going off the rails...

Base44 and lovable does not attract technical users, only those who were tricked into spending money creating useless applications that they won’t use on their codebase. At best, it’s for prototyping, then they go back to their own IDE and do their own stuff.

We always need people who care about every level of software-hardware abstraction. Otherwise yes, there's always been a power law that draws most people to the highest levels of abstraction. Today that happens to be words and napkin sketches. Tomorrow that could well be a BCI.

how to ragebait devs in one-shot:

Tech folks are choosing Base44 because they’d rather build cool stuff than babysit servers or wrestle mountains of test code; looks like simplicity won the battle and everyone’s finally escaping the maze of database headaches. Even the old-school coders are jumping ship for less hassle.

I don't agree. As someone with a technical background who uses AI to code, I'd always favor having the control over the code generated and other aspects of my project like DB, deployement, etc.

Hard disagree

if you want to build some actual technology instead of some simple crud/gpt wrapper. Still need to see the code

Disagree.

fake news

Lol

@shomikghosh21

Base44 is absolute dog water. Cursor shits all over it.

bs

MCP in cursor lets you move way past just deploying an app. U can connect to tools to make 3d tools, games, design elements etc.

There is a huge market for apps like Base44 but it won't replace IDE's. People (especially those learning) want/need to have visibility into what's happening underneath for maintainability/debugging/architecture choices in the future

Fuck base44 lol

wtf is base44 lmao

No I don’t. I need to see the code.

Haven't opened VS Code let alone code for a while as @Lovable has become so good.

this is absolutely right and you can see it in the Wix vs Cursor valuations lol

I started with Base44 knowing nothing, and now I use Cursor and Supabase 🤷…I still know nothing.

i want to see the code

Flat out wrong. In terms of vibe coding prob yes. But there are way better tools out there. And cursor - as good as it is - isn‘t vibe coders choice anyway. But there‘s way more out there than just the „I copy a calories counter app, give it another icon, call it a SaaS and myself a founder“ bubble.

Just use CC.

this is bullshit — as a technical user it’s ALWAYS fun to set up servers and databases!

Replit

Disagree. Went from non tech to building a revenue generating SaaS Absolutely need the flexibility of cursor / database / temporal workflows
