Civil society statement on continued network shutdowns and platform blocking in Pakistan We, a collective of human rights activists and civil society organisations, express profound concern over the increasing instances of #internetshutdowns and #socialmedia platform blocking, specifically in the lead up to and following the general elections in #Pakistan. These actions not only infringe upon the fundamental rights of #freedomofexpression and access to information but also set a troubling precedent of throttling genuine political discourse in the country. The arbitrary blocking of platforms, including the prolonged and unannounced disruption of "X" (formerly known as #Twitter), is a sobering illustration of growing digital censorship in the country. Such actions not only silence diverse political voices, but also create an environment which contributes to the spread of misinformation. Today, digital platforms play a pivotal role in shaping public discourse, and ensuring the free flow of information, through these digital mediums, is imperative for an informed society and fair electoral processes. The suppression of digital platforms, especially when initiated without transparency, often lacks adherence to due legal process and thus, undermines Pakistan’s international law commitments. The complete silence of the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (#PTA) is extremely alarming as they have failed to furnish any reasons for its actions and exceeded its mandate to block an entire internet platform. The absence of transparency in the decision-making processes surrounding network #shutdowns and platform blocking and complete disregard for any accountability has resulted in an obvious erosion of trust between the state and its citizens. We are also dismayed by reports of throttling of #VPNs, undermining people’s access to information and right to privacy. In light of these concerns, we call for immediate action to reverse the course of digital censorship in Pakistan. Specifically, we urge the government and public bodies to; - Repeal sections of the law such as Section 37 of PECA that enable censorship and violate Article 19 right to freedom of speech and press freedom and Article 19-A right of access to information - Act with transparency on decisions that impact the free use of the internet, including for political and economic purposes. - Issue statement of clarification, outlining the reasons and legal basis for the recent blocking of "X" and other affected platforms. - Avoid future actions that obstruct the free flow of information and adersely affect political discourse within the countries and take back all legislative proposals expanding control and censorship over the internet including the e-safety bill from the previous government’s tenure should not be revived. - Abide by #Pakistan’s commitments to uphold freedom of expression and right to access to information under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR) and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights We urge the incoming government, regulators and other public bodies to recognise that any action that affects the flow of information and limits citizen’s ability to express themselves, has a direct and lingering impact on citizen’s human rights including the right to political participation. From dumping resources on me, having my own guardian angel- secretly following me around the world while camouflaged to protect me (I loved this). To carrying me through high level world events, cosplaying as me and giving me tours of their homesteads... Think one of the best examples of this are Tank controls in OG Resident Evil 4. RE4R didn't "fix" RE4's movement. The game was built around tank controls and even if they take some getting used to, it changes how you play the game. The limited movement adds tension and makes positioning more important. You can like one more than the other but their was never a problem with tank controls or fixed camera angles either. Just like there's nothing inherently bad about turn based combat.

Who do you think is going to end up running the place “for the benefit of the others”? Anyone who’s been around the block a few times knows what’s going to happen. Let me quickly clarify this – there was no excessive use of force against protestors in Serbia. Quite the opposite - and we know what the excessive use of force looks like. Attached in the video are just few examples. But this is not Serbia, these are some of the most advanced EU democracies. On protests in Serbia – I wish they were peaceful, but they are not. Protesters in Serbia are, on a daily basis, denying all fundamental rights to other citizens in this country: the right to freedom of movement, which is a fundamental human right, freedom of speech, freedom of opinion, freedom to live freely and peacefully. Despite of this, both our police and our citizens have shown nothing but restraint and patience. Unbelievable, exemplary restraint. 🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸

Interestingly enough, there was the Shah of Iran, and then the Shah was displaced by Mossadegh. Mossadegh was democratically elected. Now, to be very fair, the United States and Britain got rid of Mossadegh. And then we reinstalled the Shah, bad decision. Which then led to the Iranian revolution where radical Islam took over Iran. This might be the craziest workflow you'll see this week. From #VR greyboxing to 3D worlds with the help of #AI. The 2 tools I used are ShapesXR and Marble from World Labs. Feels like everyone’s telling me to set up OpenClaw… but do I really need to? I feel like it’s just a matter of time before xAI’s Macrohard is going to end up doing it better anyway… especially when Elon says this project is going to emulate entire human companies. “The Macrohard project probably will be our most important project because what we’re talking about is emulation of entire human companies. So when you look at the most valuable companies in the world, they are… their output is digital. So they don’t actually make hardware. So it should be possible to completely emulate any company where the output is digital. And this will usher in an age of prosperity the likes of which we can barely imagine at this point. You need to imagine to imagine it. So this is a big deal…”
