Our engagement in Bunkure was an opportunity to connect with the people, listen to their concerns and better understand their realities. We engaged market women, small-scale business owners and young people, while reaffirming our support for their livelihoods and active participation in community development. We also joined the opening of a Youth Political Community Office in Bunkure, providing a platform for young people to unite, exchange ideas and engage on issues affecting their future. The team l work with Sema Ukweli is facing the closure of our physical office and the vital work we do. We are a justice and human rights media organization that seeks to tell human interest stories. As an independent media platform, we expose injustices and human rights violations faced by ordinary Kenyans, with the aim of getting justice for the victims. We work closely with various organizations and authorities to achieve this aim. We also run a rapid response desk that responds to urgent calls and bails out innocent people arrested by the police. We work closely with young people and train them in citizen journalism, human rights, and how to organize in their communities to fight against injustices. I am grateful to Cabinet for approving the National Youth Policy (2026–2030), a bold framework that places young people at the centre of Zimbabwe’s development agenda. I am also pleased to advise that the Youth Bill is progressing well, with the Attorney General’s Office finalising the necessary processes before it proceeds to the Cabinet Committee on Legislation, Cabinet, and ultimately Parliament. The Policy tackles key challenges affecting our youth, including unemployment, drug and substance abuse, mental health, skills development, digital transformation, climate change, and youth participation. Together, we are laying a strong foundation for a future where every young Zimbabwean can thrive and contribute meaningfully to national development.
