How capcom was treating megaman in 2008-2010 for some reason

I’ve been getting into megaman as of late and it’s kinda sad how nice 7 and 8 look and then 9 and 10 are back to the NES style

Do I hate it? No not really, but I’d prefer if the artstyle advanced further, I’m glad both 11 and DO are doing that

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't it happen that Megaman franchise was selling below their expectations, so Capcom found a way to make extremely cheap games under that 'retro game' label?

I kinda get 9 being a retro throwback kinda like sonic mania (even then mania had a unique style) but 10 has no excuse being soretro

went on way past 2010 imo

The fact there were NES style throwback games was the weird part. Would have been peak if 10 was SNES style, then they made an X9 that was SNES style, and then 11 and X10 be Ps1 style before finally making a more AAA modern style one like Dual Override.
