If YOU love dogs, the worst thing you could do is BUY a dog. Here are 2 reasons to never ever buy dogs- 1) Pet stores and dog breeders force female dogs to become pregnant repeatedly because more the kids, the better it is for profits. In fact, sometimes, they tie female dogs to “breeding stands” (also called rape stands) to make sure the dogs have more kids. 2) The same people who say “looks don’t matter”, buy only good-looking dogs. But what happens to the not-so-cute dogs? Feeding and taking care of these dogs is bad for profits. So the not-so-cute dogs are often killed or left in the streets. For dogs, it is not the survival of the fittest, it is the survival of the cutest. If you really want a dog, adopt a dog from an animal-shelter near you, or take care of a street dog! But never ever buy dogs. Adopt, don’t shop! Dost Khareede nahi, banaiye jaate hai!

I have seen a few videos of dogs with possible cerebellar hypoplasia going viral recently. They are portrayed as being normal healthy dogs that are just "happy", when in reality they are disabled. These dogs ARE cute and worthy of love, but we shouldn't be misleading the public that these are normal dogs. Society already struggles to read and understand dog behaviour accurately as it is. I see so many examples of people misunderstanding dog behaviour, in my clinical practice and in comments to videos online. Misunderstanding dog behaviour might seem harmless to most people, but in reality it leads to unhappy dogs. I go into this in detail in my book, humans misreading dog behaviour means they are misunderstood. This is a real problem with dogs that are suffering from mental health conditions like severe anxiety. They are tied to a “breeding rack” (unofficially called “rape rack”) where they are made pregnant every 6 months. When they stop giving children, they are often dumped or killed off. The world of dogs is not the survival of the fittest, it is the survival of the cutest! While cute dogs are bought by people, the not so cute dogs are also dumped/killed off. Remember this powerful line- If you like a flower, you pluck it. If you love a flower, you water it daily. If you love a dog, the best thing you can do is not buy a dog! Dog park drama is real and this one escalated fast - a man took his dogs to the park at 8am for what should have been a normal morning and ended up in the middle of a full blown confrontation. She claims his dog bit her dog, he says she kicked his dog, and now the whole thing is on video for the internet to decide. Dog parks are one of those places where tensions can go from zero to a hundred in seconds because people treat their animals like family and the moment another dog gets involved the emotions take over completely. The reality is dogs play rough sometimes, bites happen, and not every altercation means somebody’s animal is vicious - but the moment a human puts their foot on someone else’s dog the conversation changes entirely. No dogs were harmed but that kick she threw was something else. Has something like this ever happened to you at a dog park or have you witnessed an altercation between owners?

This Doggy Daycare and Pet Resort in Pennsylvania welcome their dogs in the morning like this every day. Their employees line up on both sides, clap their hands and cheer the dogs on and give them love as they enter. How would you like to feel and know that your dog is receiving love throughout the day when you have to board them? One of the main reasons I hesitate to board my dogs is because I am skeptical that they are going to receive the proper attention, love and care they and all dogs deserve. Do you have a great dog daycare you use near you? Would it make you feel better if you had a place like this to leave your fur babies?

Other rescues couldn’t help Kubo. He was living in such a state of anxiety his loving family reached out for help. This was Kubo’s first 36 hours at our rescue. What a lovely dog he is 🐶 We are a specialist resource in UK rescue, helping dogs who simply would never cope in a noisy kennels. Here Kubo is distracted by the other dogs and this is interrupting his learned anxiety behaviours. Thank you as always to our Golden Paw Club members whose monthly donations mean we can take a chance on dogs like Kubo 🐶

So a soldier decided to help. He brought the abandoned dog back to Israel, looked after it, cared for it, nurtured it back to health, and gave it real love. And just look at this dog now. Healthy, happy, confident, playful. This is who we are. We love life. And dogs truly are man’s best friends.
