I’ve just been feeling really grateful lately. Life is not where I want it to be yet. I’m still trying to figure things out. I’m still working, still trying, still hoping things get better. But when I stop and really think about everything I’ve been through, I’m proud of myself. There were so many times I didn’t know how I was going to get through something, but somehow, I did. I’m still here. I’m still dreaming. I’m still building my life. And honestly, that means a lot to me. I’m so grateful for every person who has supported me, checked on me, helped me, donated, shared my story, or simply reminded me that I’m not alone. I never expected some of the love I’ve received, and I’ll always be grateful for it. I don’t have everything figured out. I don’t have everything I want yet. But I believe things will get better. I believe in myself. And I know that one day, I’m going to look back at this version of me and say, “Girl, we really went through it.” 😂 Then I’ll look at my life and say, “But look at you now.” I’m proud of me. Been ending a lot of my interviews lately by asking filmmakers to name something they did that they’re proud of. I started doing this partly because I noticed I’m really bad at answering that question myself, and think it’s important to take pride in your work. I’ve been getting better at it though, and actually have a very easy time pinpointing something I’m especially proud of in 2023 — getting nominated for the Press Award at the IATSE Local 600 Publicists Awards. It’s hard to put into words how much I LOVE what I do, how grateful I am to be able to do it, and how deeply I appreciate all of the artists who’ve shared their craft and experiences with me during our interviews. None of that would be possible without the publicists I get to work with, a number of whom I’ve known my entire career. To any publicist reading this, THANK YOU. Thank you for your hard work and passion, and for always making me feel welcomed, supported, and like this is a business where I can thrive and keep my heart full. ❤️📽️

It also has five nominations in the coming AMVCA, and you have a nomination as the best supporting actress as well. These are very impressive milestones. First things first, how does all of this make you feel? Funke Akindele: Yes. I feel good. I’m happy. because it’s one thing to work hard. It’s another thing for you to see the success.
