Q: Tell me about the start then, because a lot of drivers have described it as chaos. What was your view of it and how it was handled? Charles Leclerc: Chaos. Obviously there was Lewis on the inside, which I don't think he expected that Max was on the outside of me. And so there was a little bit of contact and then I went on the dirty side of the track, no grip at all. And I couldn't really stay there as the angle with Lewis was just impossible to make a corner. So I had to go straight, but it was quite stressful. I really thought the race would end not only for me, but also for Lewis and for Max, but mostly for Lewis. “The idea was, when he (Vincent D'Onofrio) decides to reveal himself they did a special version of his makeup that was very stretchable. What he does is he grabs the back of his head and he just starts tugging on it. The idea was he would pull it as far as he could, and then we would take over stretching the image, making it appear to be distorting in a way that it physically couldn’t. Then basically when I shot Vince I just kept urging him to pull harder, and harder, and harder until finally the final take he just pulled it until the makeup just ripped. We said, ‘Okay, we got it.’ That’s what’s in the show because it’s really tugging on his face the maximum it could be done, and then we just extended that. When the aircraft descended, it seemed it would crash, and it did crash. It then exploded. There was a massive explosion. After that, we rushed here and saw that the aircraft was on fire.
