Anime: The Feast of Amrita (2023)

@anime_twits Real footage, rotoscoped character animation, with 3D rendered environment replacement.

@anime_twits meawhile this monstrosity be like......

@anime_twits Peak Sauce: The Feast of Amrita (2023)

@anime_twits Cheaply I'm guessing, it looks dynamic but it doesn't look good.

@anime_twits 👍

@anime_twits That looks insane anime name please

@anime_twits Same way this scene was done. 3d background with planned camera movement. Then they basically 2d animate on top of that footage.

@anime_twits Forgot what it's called, but it's just CG output, then you just animate the character running. Nice effect tho.

@anime_twits I mean its not new shots like this have been done since the 90s. the background is 3d you just plot the movement on the wire frame

@anime_twits you like CGI? Watch Beastars or Kengan Ashura or Trigun Stampede

@anime_twits The technology has been around since the 90s

@anime_twits I mean it's clear the enviorment is 3D modeled, I think for a lot of it the running girl is put in after, but the spider lady seemed to be multiple layers in the 3D enviorment, that's just my guess tho.

@anime_twits

@anime_twits I forget what it's called, but it looks like it's a mix where the character is drawn over the motion of an actual person playing out the scene. Which is why the animation looks so real and believable.

@anime_twits mixed mediums, using both 3D and 2D

@anime_twits

@anime_twits What’s anime is this? Please🙏.

@anime_twits I want to see people to whom the first thing that comes to mind when they fall is “I have to crawl” so that I can call them stupid to their face.

@anime_twits 3d background with 2d characters

@anime_twits Cgi model environment construct. Reference stills for hand drawn animation to match cgi angles Integrate hand drawn animation to cgi environment. Clean up overlay and add effects Not complicated.

@anime_twits ai

@anime_twits Rotoscoping

@anime_twits @Blender Grease pencil?

@anime_twits how did they draw a 2d image on a plane and align it to a 3d environment? is that the question?

@anime_twits I think the whole sequence including the chara animation was animated in 3D, and later the 2D animator has used that as an underlay previs and drawn the 2D character animation based on design sheets. That's the best and efficient approach

@anime_twits Looks like 3D scene and 2D character animation

@anime_twits maybe rotoscopy for the girl and for the perspecitve during camera traveling drawing on a 3d reproduction of that scene i'm not expert

@anime_twits Cool camera work, but the CG faces are just not it. The only thing actually conveying "terror" from that girl is the voice acting while her facial expressions show mild concern at most for her current situation.

@anime_twits Background is CG. They probably had a CG model of the girl and rotoscoped it.

@anime_twits CGI, its used a lot in the 90s for large panning shots as they would be very time consuming to do on a weekly basis hand drawn

@anime_twits 3D models Likely 2D drawn on top of it (at minimum the stairs and camera movement is 3D)

@anime_twits the character designs are very simple and the environment is too detailed, it looks very disconnected and strange. this clip looks like a fan animation to me because it focused more on the environment than on the characters who should be the main focus
