Grew up in the Chicago area. Went to Digger Phelps basketball camp for 3 summers (78,79 and 80). Actually had Digger coach my team for a game. Staying on Campus, chanting “We are ND” at each meal. Became a ND fan for life and I can jokingly say - I went to ND (for bball camp).

For those that have said "since birth" - me too. Born in Mishawaka - raised in the Michiana area, back when the area code was 219 - and the tv stations were 16 (NBC), 22 (CBS), 28 (ABC), 34 (PBS), and 46 (Ind). Always and forever: #GoIrish

My grandfather told me about them, showed me them on tv and since that hot summer day in mid to south Ga I’ve been all Irish☘️☘️☘️

When my son was little he asked about the color of the helmets and how did they get so shiny. So I told him the story and how the student body paints them every week during the season. We went to two games at South Bend (bucket list for this old man).

1987 I was a 4 years old my mom didn’t know what to do with me. So her being raised catholic and ND being one of the few teams that had a lot of national televised games she kept me entertained by putting them on and I haven’t stopped rooting for them since.

Mine was 1988 Notre Dame vs the Aggies in Dallas at the Cotton Bowl. They lost but I got hooked on their Gold helmets. Plus we lived out in the country , no cable but Notre Dame was on TV. I watched the full 1988 season of course, they won the national championship #NotreDame

I was born one. My great grandfather was a priest and professor at Notre Dame and my grandfather was a professor who also has a scholarship named after him. I have bled Irish since the moment I was born 🍀🍀
