How do houses just get left like that

People die and there's no one able or interested in the property. Sadly, this will happen to my place as well. I oft wonder why I put in such effort. It is what it is.

YouTube is full of urban explorers who tour abandoned houses. They don’t touch anything. Looks like they were abandoned in a hurry. Some old ones even have jewelry boxes left behind.

People pass away and have no family left.
