How do you feel about climate change and nuclear power?

Climate change is a natural phenomenon that humans have had no influence over. Nuclear energy is the most efficient and sustainable energy source on earth that needs to be wildly accepted and implemented.

Climate change is cyclical and has been happening since long before human were here. As for nuclear power, it's clean and efficient and is the only way to generate the amount of electricity our society needs, especially if we want to lead on AI, which is absolutely necessary when China is our main competitor.

nuclear power is NOT holding back climate change lol. Only an idiot would believe that

The climate has been changing long before man was ever on earth, its total bullshite

the sooner we as a society stop being pussies about nuclear energy (or rather when the politicians stop letting themselves be bribed by oil companies), the better, because nuclear is the way forward, at least until we get fusion reactors, which might be sooner rather than later

As one of my favorite TF2 youtubers once said; Cherynoble is just proof that communists are too stupid to boil water.

Socialism caused Chernobyl.

Climate alarmism was only ever about control, never the environment.

Nuclear power is the cleanest and most efficient power source but as of right now some countries (like small archipelago nations) don't have the space for a nuclear plant. Sunny archipelago nations do have sunlight for small scale solar energy though. Overall nuclear is amazing.

Man made climate change is bullshit and we should use nuclear power.

While climate change is vastly Over exaggerated for political purposes, nuclear power should be the new standard. Its the healthiest idea so far for the planet thanks to the state of the art methods of nuclear waste containment.

Nuclear power and hydrogen fuel cells are the future, batteries based electric cars and alternative energy are situational at best and not suited to replace fossil fuels in every instance where nuclear is more productive than fossil fuels and cleaner. Hydrogen fuel could slot into our existing infrastructure for gas somewhat readily though would likely need the subsidies currently given to alternative energy in order to be adopted widespread enough for people to buy the vehicles.

Humanity's effect on climate change is over exagerated. Nuclear Power wouldnt change that. However, nuclear power is more efficient and less wasteful than the other options and should be moved to for that reason alone.

Germany right now.

Nuclear power would slow it down drastically but not stop it, but its definitely way better than fossil fuels, and its way safer with the proper safety protocols in place. People just have irrational fears about it.

@BradWitbeck Funny Except climate change isn’t a threat.

Climate change is a lie

Climate change aka Global Warming is the biggest hoax in world history. Did you know CO2 is food for plants? Did you know H2O is the most important greenhouse gas? Is water Vapor pollution too?

We need to use the magic rocks to make hot water. That's how I feel.

Climate change is a Hoax. Still Nuclear power for the win

Thats a pretty accurate representation of what happened to nuclear power. Nuclear power is the cleanest energy available on the planet. It has by far the smallest footprint. It has by far the highest material to output ratio. It has by far the lowest waste to output ratio. It has by far the lowest shipping tonnage. AND the spent fuel rods can be refined and REUSED!

Climate change is a globalist hoax, At least human caused Climate change.

Nuclear energy now please

Right! The anti-nukes are worried about their health, which is crazy. 1:1000th of everyone on earth dies each year - from air pollution. Nuclear energy doesn't make any of that. If Chernobyl was a coal plant it would have killed 100,000 on purpose, instead of 60 by accident.

B-but nuclear plants take fossil fuels to build! That contributes to climate change! New oil and coal plants on the other hand are famously just self-existent...

Chernobyl was quite a vast amount more than one tower falling. More like a third of the planet poisoned, water turning toxic and mutations on a horror show level and bordering on spreading. It cost many lives to reduce it. I get the original anxiety. Fusion will fix most of that!

Espionage turns nuclear potential into a liability for any nation willing to risk it. You also need to ensure each generation produces enough engineers capable of operating and maintaining nuclear facilities, which is hard to do without raising the average IQ of the populace.

Until we get fission nuclear is the cleanest and best energy

Nuclear power only makes up one wedge until 2050, we need 8 wedges to even out climate change for 1 year, then in 2050 if all 8 wedges are achieved then we will reduce emissions rather than adding to it

And just like that: Disney and the left are gone.

warm Luke

They don't want nuclear around, because wind and solar prints money for everyone involved. Man-made climade change appears in post-production. Below GISTEMP v1 "raw" compared to GISTEMP v4 "unadjusted" for Iceland along with trend lines for each. 1900-2011 (when v1 ends).

Changing all fossil power plants and cargo boats with nuclear would probably have more impact than forcing everyone to adopt EVs and it wouldnt cause a major problem of billions of scrapped cars and overloading recycling industry whos also ill invested.

This is a very reductive take.
