You grab the brush bushes & dig your feet in & crawl back up the hillside. Dangerous mistake to lose it on a steep slope with slippery rocks/dirt.

I had something similar happen while hiking off trail in Maine. I was hiking laterally and the rocks below my feet began sliding out, I had to just keep moving forward until I got to stable ground... My heart skipped a few beats until I got to safety. Stay on marked trails!!! 🤣

Super easily... Scree is a MFer. If you're climbing around this stuff and it starts to go, you're going all the way down unless you can wiggle your way laterally to something stuck into the ground.
