Hard to disagree with this. But I would like to mention that the tournament this year was loaded. I think they played harder teams than recent champions.

I think you have to compare apples to apples, though. If you look at how good the elite teams were this season and also the path Florida had to take to win it all, the competition was steeper than most years. And, the analytics show that it’s one of the top teams all-time.

While you may be right, I think Zach says it well whe he says that UF’s path was far more challenging than either of UConns paths, as borne out by the Ken Pom’s ratings. So looking at margin of victory without considering the quality of the opposition rings a bit hollow.

They were more dominant because they played. Far easier schedule

Florida had the statistically hardest road to a championship in recent memory. Of course they weren’t going to win every game by double digits. Not to mention they won a conference championship tournament in a 14 bid league

UConn’s margin of victory was against teams seeded 3,4,1 last year and the year before that against teams seeded 3,5,5. No wonder they won by large margins. This year all 4 #1 seeds were championship quality (chalk bracket)& Florida beat a 3,1&1. Of course they were close games!

@GrahamHall It doesn’t matter. They’re all 6-0 in the NCAA tournament, nothing else matters.

Agree. Uconn last year and Nova 2018 are probably my top two from the last 7-8 years.

In addition to UCONN and Villanova, ‘09 UNC closest win was 12 points in the regional final v OU

Who cares? It’s just purchased talent. #nothingspecial
