SU-57M The Russians are enhancing the stealth characteristics and performance of the Su-57 with the new engine. The AL-51F1 offers 20–25% better fuel efficiency than the previous engine, incorporates composite materials, and features a flat nozzle to reduce the RCS and IR signature. Maximum thrust reaches approximately 180 kN, and the engine is about 20% lighter, enabling sustained supercruise at Mach 1.6–2.0 without afterburner. The Russians have been devoting significant attention to the Su-75, and it appears they are upgrading the Su-57 primarily for export markets.

10 successful ignitions. 790 seconds of cumulative hot-fire time for the ARCOS Thrust Module. Our latest ARCOS TCA hot-fire campaign at the German Aerospace Center DLR - English marks a major milestone in the development of our in-house methalox thrust chamber assembly. The campaign demonstrated stable and repeatable operation across a wide operating envelope (60–105% thrust and multiple mixture ratios), validating a deeply throttleable core thrust module to be replicated across ARCOS’ aerospike architecture. Reliable ignition and shutdown, stable chamber pressure behaviour, and no critical structural damage were observed after testing. A key step forward towards full ARCOS aerospike engine assembly — and for Europe’s propulsion capabilities. A huge thank you to our team for always pushing the limits and overcoming every challenge along the way; and to German Aerospace Center (DLR) team for their continuous support and collaboration. #PoweringSpace

LEAP 71, a Dubai-based AI engineering company announced today the successful test firing of a liquid rocket engine created entirely through Noyron, the company’s Large Computational Engineering Model. The engine was designed autonomously without human intervention and then 3D-printed in copper. The engine with 5 kN (500 kg / 1124 lbf) of thrust, generated the expected 20,000 horsepower, and completed all tests, including a long duration burn.
