It was less so upsetting about who it was being done to, and more so about who was doing it. Spideys not a bootlicker. He would take down dirty cops and save redeemable criminals. But hurting someone trying to help just like him (for no reason at that) would obviously shatter him

Is there any explanation as to why Spider Man isn’t just on the NYPD’s payroll considering how friendly he is with them? I never hear Spidey say “fuck the police” in any story plus the NYPD can easily find him and arrest him for vigilante Work if he didn’t play ball.
