🚨 How is nobody talking about this?! Demis Hassabis just casually confirmed that Gemini-powered smart glasses are arriving "maybe by the summer." 🤯 He confirmed active partnerships with Samsung, Warby Parker, and Gentle Monster. This is huge because it means the "clunky" phase is over these are going to... show more

The wearable AI race is heating up fast Apple has Vision Pro Meta has Ray Bans Now Google bringing Gemini to glasses Wonder how long before one of these actually sticks with normal people

Because nobody who doesn't need to doesn't want to wear glasses. They are primarily an impairment aid. What? You want AI crutch? Or a wheelchair?

Millions of people bought Meta glasses and they’re useful as well as cool

2 million glasses ain't the flex you think it is. In fact it proves my point.

Right?! This is absolutely huge news and Demis has not-so-subtly mentioned glasses in every one of his recent interviews and no interviewer has probed further on the subject!!

should i report?

In a market led by Meta, Gemini entering the smart glasses market is going to be a complete sweep and take over.

I think it’s going to be a convergence of technology, much like the iPhone needed batteries/chips/cameras/touch screens. Bone vibration “hearing”, neuralink chip, and onboard cameras all connected to an AI would make this product extremely powerful. @kevinweil

I need these.

Goat Demis Hassabis🔥

AI glasses going mainstream could change everything

What are producers of the smart glasses doing to allow for peoples prescription changes from year to year? Buy new smart glasses each year??

I am working upon something similar too

Samsung + Warby Parker = smart play. Hardware meets fashion. Summer release aggressive but exciting for AR adoption 🚀

voice ui plus glasses could finally make agents usable

Interesting.

Yes, he said he talked with the developers of the previous Google glass to get insights why the product failed.

The fashion angle is what makes this potentially viable at scale. Meta lost billions trying to convince people to wear overtly tech-forward hardware. Partnering with Warby Parker and Gentle Monster suggests they understand adoption is fundamentally a design problem, not a technology problem. The timing is interesting too. Computer vision models have improved dramatically in the last year, which means the core functionality might actually justify daily wear. If the utility is there and the form factor is indistinguishable from regular eyewear, the adoption curve could be significantly faster than previous attempts. The test will be whether they can avoid the privacy backlash that killed Google Glass. That was less about the technology and more about social acceptability of recording devices in public spaces.

doubtful

I trust google to make good google glasses. They learned from their mistakes but it was a high potential market the first time. After Meta came out and Chinese knock offs and scams, I hope those years of technological micronization and user feedback can be applied to produce something wonderful.

That’s why I returned my meta glasses 🤓

They’ll be as dorky as ever and you’ll wear them.

I know you’re not familiar with those fashion design designers however they do tend to make pretty nice wear

I couldn't think of a more annoying or dangerous thing than AI glasses. If you think the roads are dangerous with smart phone distracted drivers, just wait until you give the same people AI glasses.

Nerd goggles that tech bros want to sell us so we can help them train our future machine overlords. Form an orderly queue.

Do you think smart glasses finally stick this time because the models are ready, or does social acceptance still decide everything?

It's called glassbot

INSANE!! Those street pranks are about to hit another level🤣

The dopamine hits through a city is going to be next level..

Same thing happened to me when I hit the wall with my finance app, nobody talks about the real challenges. Partnerships can make or break a product, I've seen it firsthand. It's about time someone shook things up.

This is nothing. AI glasses have the right to look unconventional—the main thing is value built around AI, not the marketing struggles of Google product managers. For example, Gemini, in its attempt to appear useful, comes across as dim-witted

@chrisgpt, Gemini's integration with smart glasses could redefine user interfaces, offering a new era for wearable tech.

This feels like the real inflection point. When form factor disappears, AI stops being a product you open and starts becoming something you live with.

I caught this and was surprised but on the other hand, not sure if I want to wear glasses 24/7 ?

Society will continue to ostracize people wearing these. If and only if that stops, this market can grow, driven by utility.

I’m sure all 10 people out there who want a pair of smart glasses are elated by the news.

because it isn't news 😂 this was already pre-announced
