Issue with calibration. You can always ask for a calibration certificate and they need to show it. They have an annual inspection from the Govt which is done againt counter weights. If the machine fails, it is disallowed. Not sure how the AAI takes care of it, but the govt is damn serious in the private sector with error tolerance of upto 0.5% only.

Machine calibration errors are common,once detected these should be rectified. The weighing machines at the Airports are installed by the company operating the Airport & not by the Airlines, because different Airlines use the same counters for checking in activities.
