How it feels seeking specific instructions from a neurotypical boss:
33 Kommentare

When my old boss admitted that he saw clarifying questions as a threat to his authority

And we're expected to believe that autism is the problem.

"you'll figure it out"

Sometimes Family guy’s obnoxious and then sometimes so bone drenchingly relatable on an emotional level

this video makes me really angry for some reason i need something horrible to happen to the man on the right

One of my favorites was I kept getting frustrated at me misunderstanding how to do something and my bosses response was “some things aren’t for you to understand, you’re just supposed to do them” like what

Boss: let’s make sure you’re focusing on what’s important Me: here’s a list of what’s on my plate with my view of priority but open to thoughts Boss: Eh. Let’s focus on what’s important Me: But what does that mean. Boss: I can’t say. I want to make sure you’re prioritizing

And they never answer the question just going around the bush but then go around "you said (add things i never said)"

There's no winning. You try to do things yourself, you're doing it wrong. You check to see if you're doing it right, you're seen as slow. TF you want me to do then, learn telepathy?

When normies do this shit its sometimes because they dont know how to do the thing theyre asking you to do and are too prideful to say they don't know either. Each time you ask them for clarification makes them think you're intentionally trying to embarrass them. Infant normies.

maybe i am autistic.

I'm trying to learn how to do my job better

I had this exact conversation with my neurotypical boss.

Asking for advice on Reddit always felt like this

Like pls just show me how to do it and I’ll copy it exactly good

Man the people in the comments of the og post sound like a NIGHTMARE group to have as coworkers ngl

Legit then they take credit when you start doing it "right" aka doing it your own way when they aren't looking

I don't mean to be insensitive, but if your boss doesn't know you're neurodivergent and you need clear instructions, why not say so? Neurotypical people make a lot of assumptions, Why not clarify that you need them to be very specific?

If you ask how long it is supposed to take it narrows it down so you don’t do too much.

My branch manager does exactly this. When I asked her a simple question of “oh wow those cookies were great where did you get them from?” She said “oh where they sell them.” Okay i have no idea what stores stock harry david cookies lol

Neurotypical people just straight up do not answer direct questions a lot of the time, it is so infuriating

Neurotypical individuals navigate a high dimensional social space that neurodivergent individuals often don't perceive. It demands continuous probabilistic calculation of other's minds with sparse data. The ability to navigate well does not imply the ability to describe it well.

Omg this is just my dad. To a T.

Me, an autist: iron- and folic acid-fortified wheat flour (iron: commonly known "Ray Peat predicted this long before that C15 dolphin research" reasons; folic acid: holds on to brain receptors to dear life and is toxic to child brain development, worsens auDHD exdys) Emulsifiers

The typical part of Neurotypical isn’t “dumb” It’s an unwillingness to try to understand.

peter saying the exact same thing to his family when he gets home

Жиза.

"The bread is bleached garbage, the cheese and pepperoni are greasy, and the sauce is probably filled with oil. Each slice is like 300 calories, and you have to eat like 4-7 pieces to get full."

oh that's autism?

thats how it is regardless wdym

why peter got the steve fit

I hate being neurodivergent so much

Literally and you ask for clarification and now you’re the problem
