This is not the Portland, Oregon that I grew up in. I was a Trail Blazers Dancer in my early 20’s for several years and I used to LOVE being out in the city, especially at night! Those were some of the best years of my life. Now I worry about parking downtown in the middle of the day and getting my car broken into… not to mention all of the protests and riots taking place. It’s honestly just sad.

The hamstring tear I suffered in Tokyo 7 months ago is still healing and I am a long way from where I was then. But I’m excited for this test, to see where my body is at. And I am grateful that World Athletics included me in their pre-race press conference knowing that and asking me instead about what Brazil gave to me 10 years ago.
