How long before they start auctioning these off? And has anyone ever seen more “designed by committee” vehicle?

These are apparently much better for the drivers. They have AC for one, and they allow the drivers to stand for the most part in the back so they don’t kill their backs. Who cares what they look like if they allow the work to be done better

These were requested by the drivers FYI

Purpose built vehicle. It's designed to function as a mail truck first. Its looks dont matter.

When you realize mail trucks were designed to deliver mail and not for randoms to be appealed by their shape

Amazon uses electric delivery vans. Are you going to complain about a profitable company using them or is this just post office must be bad?

Was I complaining about being electric?

@bakrantz What were you complaining about then?

@ShannonJean @bakrantz The costs.. and they are ugly.

@BalderdashianLA @ShannonJean So Amazon is screwing up in your opinion too building out significant EV fleet with plans for even more delivery vans? I get no sense they are wrong. So why would postal service be wrong by comparison to a major profitable successful company?

@greg_f_miller @BalderdashianLA @ShannonJean You project onto me but have no thoughtful or insightful reply. Maybe you know jack squat about microbes toxins or EV fleets from Amazon like the typical bs you see on X. Now kindly comment on some garbage thread on here if you cannot add anything.

Why do people hate these? My brother is a mailman and got to test one for his post office and he says they're awesome. No more stopping at gas stations and he can actually stand up in the back. AC and heat work quickly. It looks dumb because it's actually functional.

is “designed by committee” when they make the windshield big and the hood low so kids don’t get run over?

Why did they steal my kindergarten vehicle drawings to make this?

“Designed by Dr. Seuss?”

I talked to my postman and he says everyone loves them. Function over form?

It's a purpose built vehicle that drastically improves safety, cargo space, driver comfort, and fuel efficiency. They're already getting rave reviews from postal workers. Maybe that "committee" knows more than you.

To be clear. I know nothing about design and functionality for these trucks. I’m an auction guy and I can’t wait to buy them. Follow me @ShannonJean if you want to learn more about auctions - I’ll alert you when these come up!

Ok but they are kinda cute and the windshield looks like it needs eyes like the movie Cars

Workers who use them love the upgrade. Sorry it doesn’t fit your aesthetic, thankfully people smarter than you were in charge

Why’s everyone so pissed? It’s literally a new looking version of the old mail trucks. Half you Mfs don’t mail anything anyway

Looks stupid so short people can drive it and tall people can stand up with hitting their head. Looks ridiculous but wasn’t designed for looks and it looks like they nailed it for its intended use.

The actual reasoning is that the lower hood makes it easier to see kids running into the street, it does look goofy, but the functionality is reasonable

We were so close :(

I see the inspiration.

This was design by fraud not committee

They look like that because they have to maximize cargo space while providing a low floor to make it easy for drivers to step out and a low hood to improve visibility. Form follows function.

Just saw one of these in my neighborhood. Wild to see irl!

Can’t wait to buy one of these at action in 5 years and turn it into a Disney themed campervan

2-3 years, they have to sit unused on the lot a while.

Oh these'll be fun. Friend of mine bought one of the older right-handers from USPS & drove it for a couple of years. Very little maintenance, and cops let her get away with dumb sh*t all the time.

It's tall so delivery people can stand up in it...

Well, the postal carriers love them. My nephew wants one for his route.

Pretty sure this was the concept car.

This is a purely practical design… of course they look hideous bout tha is not the point of a postal delivery vehicle…

OshKosh being OshKosh.

It’s ugly, but I bet it’s functional as hell.

>"designed by committee” The lead requirements person said the shortest person on USPS staff had to be able to see over the hood while the tallest had to be able to get in and not bump their head; hence the stupidly-low hood and stupidly high roof line. (No, I'm not joking)

Why does it have to look ugly? Just a Ford transit van will do.

The only complaints I've see from carriers are about the rear shelving design
