The engineer responsible for this design should be forced to personally perform the air filter change for each and every customer from now until the end of his days.

That's a good sign that Porsche could give 2 fucks about the customer. They just want that service money.

I am convinced that every auto engineer had a mechanic for a father who used to drink and beat him with a belt.

Look what they took from us...

No thanks. There are only two things that come to mind when seeing vehicles that are designed like this. Shyster companies looking to pad their bottom line or idiot engineers. I lean more towards the idea of greed being the contributing factor.

This for a water pump also!

Enter the America engineer. Problems solved!

I would’ve kept that shit in there for another 30,000 miles

My wife's father was a mechanic. Here is one of his famous quotes: "Phuqin' engineers!"

Aaaaaand that's why i only buy Japanese cars

Dumbest shit I’ve ever seen. No wonder they lost WW2.

Hey @Porsche , I think your design engineer needs to be forced to replace these air filters.

this is precisely why they will not survive best part is no part this has way too many parts

Godbless anyone that can get these 'bumpers' back on and somehow get every stupid clip to work right

No such problems on my E46 M3. It's a ten minute job. The induction noise ranks up there as one of my favorite things about this car.

This is why I'll never, ever buy anything European. And BMW/Mercedes suck ass, btw.

They're not hiding the air filter, Porsche, just like many manufacturers at the present time, is generating revenue for the dealership and themselves. @Porsche

"Yah, dats a liddel exsassive even for os."

I did that shit on my Mini Countryman once. Supremely annoyed. Then the blower motor gave out and you had to take out the entire steering column to replace it. I sold it instead.

I guarantee the car below will be on the road longer than that boondoggle even though it is already 60 years older.

That filter is clean, no way it's robbing any Hp. Must be the recommend service scam.

Really makes you appreciate corvettes

never. buy. a. German. Automobile. Front Service Position to do literally *anything*

This is part of the reason they lost WWII. Every vehicle had highly technical solutions. They always engineered for performance. Ignoring ease of maintenance and reduced complexity. Etc. Etc. Fall in to that rabbit hole on you tube for a good time.

Imagine getting a degree in Customer Dissatisfaction.

In World War II, German vehicles were engineered so incredibly well that maintenance was difficult and soldiers were frequently unable to repair them, leading to abandonment of equipment on the battlefield.

Kinda looks like it didn’t even need to be changed quite yet

10 minutes doing the actual job you wanted to do, three hours trying to get to it so you can do the work and finding the special tools to release some absurd bolt put on something for only an engineer knows why.

Stupid engineers, that's who. They might be book smart, but have no common sense and have never worked on any cars. Why do they hire engineers like that?

When you get your car serviced tell the garage to write the date and mileage on the air filter. Next year ask to see the old filter.

All by design grasshopper

Right on top of the 347 in my ‘57 Pontiac. Wash in kerosene & refill the 50 weight oil twice a year. Easy-peasy.

Wow 🤯 that’s retarded. Glad mine are easy access

Another amazing one to me is several engines I believe, think Caddy was one and I'm thinking maybe toyota v8... ...they placed the damn STARTER in the valley, under the the intake.🙄
