How many Penn State fans remember the night that Derrick Williams almost singlehandedly beat Illinois in 2008? May not have the numbers of others but one of the more special talents to wear the Blue and White, especially in the last 20 years.

not to mention that his commitment to Penn State completely launched them into the modern era of football. a complete resurgence of the program

Given where the program was when he committed, he’s one of the most important recruits PSU ever had

🙋🏻‍♂️ DWill’s recruitment was my intro into the CFB recruiting world. I was elated when he chose PSU. 2005 was my freshman year. This Illinois game was my senior year. Given where the program was at before he committed, this was an all-time recruiting win for PSU, IMO.

Williams, Norwood, Butler and King revitalized that program.

I do remember this

Best playmaking athlete at WR that PSU has had in this century. No one has even come close. Not ARob, not KJ, not Jahan, not Godwin. Dwheelz was the last truly elite athlete at WR for PSU.

He was never the same after the injury but he was electric early on

Arguably the most talented offensive player until Barkley came along.
