Went to my Surgery for a blood test, done in 10 minutes. Asked for a Dr's call about medication. Dr rang back 50 minutes later as agreed. The NHS isn't underfunded, it lacking good management at local level.

It's called a waiting room where nobody waits. If you can get a GP to even talk to you on the phone they will likely tell you to go to A&E. Next they will be closing GP surgeries because 'nobody uses them'

I learned recently, from a colleague who has a friend who is a GP, that the GPs are most likely busy seeing private patients (probably elsewhere). I remember the days when you went and sat in a waiting room full of sick people, wondering if you might come out with something worse than what you went in with. The last two times I have seen a GP since the pandemic, the waiting room was practically empty, at a time of day when, in the past, it would have been rammed full. I am not sure if private patients could account for all of that. It is truly mistifying. My local surgery has 5 GPs. I think some of them must work part time.

Yip, same at my doctors, it’s empty every time I go in, doctors only working part time now due to funding. They triage you online now and decide if you need to come in or not.

Oh Lord, it’s insane! Last year I had difficulty breathing due to Covid. I phoned up a sympathetic Receptionist who said if I was still struggling, to give them a call back. I called them back a while later, and got a different Receptionist who was grumpy and basically told me to go away, and that I didn’t need to call them at all. When I’m well, I can fight for myself! I’m a good advocate for other people and I can be for myself. But when I’m ill, I’m not! So I hung up and didn’t call back. I used my asthma inhaler and got through it. This summer I got Covid again and I didn’t even call them when I was coughing up blood! I stopped after a day so I figured I was getting better! But it really takes a lot for me to want to attempt to see a doctor now! The system has become so shit, my faith in it is at an all time low.

The receptionist is now the Dr. Receptionist “ Can I ask what’s wrong with you “ Me “ I’d rather not say it’s personal I’d like to speak to see a Dr “ Receptionist “ If you don’t tell me I can’t let you see the Dr “ It’s pathetic we are hung out to dry….

@OurDawnie All GPs time is spent on the phone to patients, they hardily see any of them! We spend the time diagnoising ourselves! Never anyone in the waiting room and most are there to see the nurses or physio. GPs work a 3-day week are very well paid and are complaining!

The NHS is run purely for the benefit of the people who work for it, not the patients.
