Michael Caine did get to star in a Frederick Forsyth adaption 14 years later: The Fourth Protocol (1987). Pierce Brosnan is the KGB agent looking to split the NATO alliance by detonating a nuclear weapon at a US air force base in England, making it look like a USAF accident. Caine is hot on his trail, but there is a double cross at every corner!

The Day Of The Jackal (1973). Michael Caine wanted the lead role as the Jackal, but director Fred Zinnemann felt a less well known actor was needed to maintain the mystery of the protagonist. Edward Fox took the part, though Michael York was also considered for it.

Beautiful bit of movie action. From back in the days when you did it all in one shot.👍

Caine? A train? Mainly in the plain.

Tickets please!

I was so confused but is that an actual road that leads into the train station??

Not really. Some older stations did let approved vehicles enter (post vans to put mail sacks on trains etc).

@RichardBratby Why was he so desperate to get to Market Harborough?

@RichardBratby I think he was headed to an RAF airfield.

St. Pancras I believe back in the days when many termini had roadways for mail, taxis & other vehicles.

@cleavsey
