This is NOT helping me understand morse code.

This is not at all how Morse code was developed. The dots and dashes are based on ease of use and frequency of use, it is why E is a single dot and T is a Dash because they are most common.

This is a really bad way to learn Morse. Morse code mnemotecnics are based on the principle that every letter has a correspondent word. Dots and dashes represent its vowels. Only the "O" vowel is a dash - the rest of them are dots. For example: H could be "Himalaya" -> IAAA ->.... B could be "Bonaparte" -> OAAE -> -... C could be "Coca Cola" -> OAOA -> -.-. M could be "Motor" -> OO -> -- Then - when transcribed - every letter marks its ending with a "/" and every word with a"//".

Now it totally makes sense why Morse code never became an everyday thing.

not really, morse code encodes from an alphabet of 36 symbols (a-z and 0-9) to an alphabet of 2 symbols (. and -), which we can use a binary tree to show. Notice how more common symbols are at a shoter depth (closer to the tree root/top) and less common symbols are leaves.

Looks random to me.

Super Beitrag. Visualisieren ist hier der richtige Ansatz. Mit Mnemotechniken kann man das beim Morsecode super machen. Dann kann man sich etwas in kürzester Zeit einprägen, was andere nie schaffen 👍
