I am in my early 50’s, my father passed away 20 years ago, and I would pay ANYTHING for just one hour with my dad to thank him for everything he gave me, tell him he was right about everything, and ask him for advice. If you still have your father in your life, don’t take that for granted.

" I could have learned so much from him" hurts like no other statement 😔

I experienced 50 years old when I was 21. Not a day goes by without thinking about him and hoping I am making him proud. What I would give to just talk to him one last time.

Just sad if the dad is a narcissist & manipulate the whole family financially it they don’t do what he says. (7 months straight not paying salary bc he doesn’t like the 2nd child’s name that was given by the parents) Not all dads know everything but i concur with this.

Not every father wins the love of his children. Some men should never become fathers

My dad was never right about anything. Or truthful. I am fixing that for my kids.

Unfortunately, this only applies to the dads with character and meaningful ideals. The rest are feckless, spiteful bastards. Ask me how I know…

That’s only if you have a dad that ever gave a fuck about you. 🙏

I am 57, my father passed away in 1988, and boy do I miss him every day of my life. I would pay anything for a chance to spend even a little time with my dad—to thank him for everything he gave me, tell him I love him, that he was right about so much, and ask him for advice. If you are fortunate enough to still have your father in your life, don’t take that for granted. Be there with him. I am grateful for the knowledge that I will see him again, but for now, I await that reunion with great anticipation.

I didn’t know a lot about my dad’s childhood when I was growing up. I don’t feel like it was hidden, it just wasn’t talked about. Now that I’m 56 and he’s pushing 90, I’m finding out just how crazy his life was when he was young. My childhood was nothing even close. It explains a lot about him.

The boys, especially, that grew up without a dad view this with so much ‘hunger’, because they weren’t able to experience it, and wish so hard that they could have.

Lost my father 17 years ago when I was 27. It’s been very difficult, and I still miss him everyday.

Too bad this was not the case with my dad. Not all dads are created equal.

My stepfather, no matter how bad I treated him he never left. I wish I got more time with him my Real Dad still here. He wants nothing to do with me. That’s hard for me to take sometimes blood is not thicker than water. I learned my life my stepdad saved my life

The secret is, how you think of it is usually skewed by emotions. None of it is actually correct. The truth is the truth. The truth is, parents are people. Just like you. Their job is to make sure you're a good functioning happy part of society. No parent is perfect and every parent is different. Some are closer to perfection. Others are very far away from it. Be thankful and learn and apply what you think is important and do not repeat the rest.

The older I'm getting the more I realise that this is 100% true. Sadly, we realise it too late and can't tell him, confide in him or learn from him ever again. RIP Dad, sorry I didn't listen.

Yeah, took me until about 28 to realize dad wasn't such a "dumb ass" after all. Better late than never. Got lot's of great years with dad and much appreciative for every single one.

10 years old that’s when my life changed. I learned who my real father really was. I learned that no one was coming to save me. I was truly on my own going through that suffering made me a better father today he showed me what not to be. Some of us don’t have good fathers.
