You are partially correct. But the role of media is to be the fourth estate. Speak truth to power. It is not to be a propaganda medium for Governments. Having some level of media bias is not a problem if it is understood. And that is the part where you are very right. It takes effort of the citizen to inform themselves. They need to dedicate time to understand what is being informed. And amplitude of perspective takes effort. Not many are willing to invest in that.

I agree with what you've said, except the inference that left and right wing media are equal-ish. They're not. 1) Left wing media is HUUUUGE compared to the right. 2) The right will put the left closer to proper context than the left does. It's not even close.

Used to be easy back in the days to just tell people let's go to war for democracy, western way of life , capitalism blah blah propaganda but nowdays with different social media outlets and information portals people won't just gladly start cheering
